I remember 45 yr ago some geezer in an 18 ft clinker Got greedy Filled the boat When he hit Deal beach The boat got flung sideways Then the boat fell to bits Mad to watch how quickly it broke up Cheers Pete

Jed Trewin How are you doing my old friend. My best friends lived in Cadgwith. Phillip Stevens, David James and me old mate Pinky. If you can't remember me I'm from St Keverne You were friends with my brother Christopher. It's sad the Cornwall we knew is nearly gone. Sad times.

Hi David of course I remember you I still keep in touch with your brother Chris (Jeeves) we were and are still close friends . I agree it is so sad that Cornwall is no longer what it was all the earthy and true Cornish characters has long since gone and been replaced by people foreign to our way of life purchasing our old family homes for summer lets and second homes. Really great to hear from you my friend Jed

@@jedtrewin7083It is sad but greed will destroy us in the end. Don’t sell your homes to people from outside who intend to let them or worse still bulldoze them!

Mullet are an impressive size. We hope you salt and smoke the roe. Down them with cold pint of sle. Ah thisr were the days in NZ.

Good video, but it seems like a lot of effort for a fish that will probably fetch 20p a kilo at Market. Ridiculous really, as lot of these were probably Mullet in their breeding prime, fish stocks that will probably take a decade to recover.
@zerofox73472 жыл бұрын
It’s probably the most sustainable way of fishing commercially in this particular fishery. Better than trawling any day. And it pays because thy aren’t greedy and work hard.
@jonathanlfccortis50062 жыл бұрын
@@zerofox7347 ….it’s also a good way of wiping out future stocks of a fish hardly anyone eats. Mullet are not really a fish that is consumed regularly. There’s no real need to kill quantities of this fish as their recovery rates are slow. It’s just a case of killing for killings sake😠
@zerofox73472 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanlfccortis5006 well if that's the case it is a shame. I just hate seeing these huge trawlers It seem so short sighted. So when I see them fishing by hand it's at least capped by what they can physically do.
@jonathanlfccortis50062 жыл бұрын
@@zerofox7347 ,….yes, I understand your point. Trawling does a lot of environmental damage, particularly to sea birds, seals, dolphins, whales, etc & that is totally unacceptable.

A classic example why the fishing in the UK has become the worst ever and will sadly never recover. If fish are there, they are there for the taking.
