@utimag Thanx Mike! Did you finish that Caddy?
@jevries13 жыл бұрын
@KantongWockstar2 Yes, I made the U-joint using brass parts and a paper clip to hold the two pieces together. I use a 4 channel GWS micro receiver modified to 8 channels. They use the same chip on both the 4 and 8 channel version only that one is way bigger. It's an FM receiver I recently bought 2.4Ghz equipment that offers me more functionality.

Mainly because I love what I create and don't want to sell something I enjoy so much. I only finish a model every once a year, don't have a lot of time or I'm distracted working on other stuff.

Super job man! That reminds me of the original Tamiya RC model cars like Sand Scorcher wit htheir brass UJs and everything. Excellent! Just the wheels to true up and she's perfect. A hobby lathe could do the job. If the wheel is set into the lathe chuck so it doesn't wobble, the center can be slowly reamed out with a carbide reamer or bored with a lathe boring tool. I don't recommend a drill as this can easily grab into the plastic and pull the wheel out of line. Then you can push or glue in a solid plastic rod and re-drill the original hole size. That should give you true spinning wheels. I would offer to do it for you, but I'm in the UK, so it might be a bit expensive with the shipping.
@jevries8 жыл бұрын
+wordreet Thanks!! The 1/25 scale resin cast wheels are a nightmare to get right, wobble free that is. I finished this model last year and the wheels don't wobble as much but still too much for my taste. I will def try the reamer!
@wordreet8 жыл бұрын
jevries A standard machining reamer has a slight spiral forwards flute which is perfect as it pushed the cut material forwards into the hole and, obviously, puts a small amount of working pressure against the lathe chuck. Plastic parts notoriously difficult to re-machine as they want to move around, due to not being a perfect shape for the chuck jaws. So, ideally, you would turn some soft jaws to match the diameter and steps in the wheel. (soft jaws just means mild steel)
