Lol, i was apart of the crew who put up the midpoint sign...the "on ramp" is actually east of Adrian so to me it was filmed out of order. Im glad you mentioned its influence on Cars... The whole town was actually used as inspiration...you didn't go down main Street youd understand... Theres a dead end sign right at the over pass... The South side of the road by the state line isnt route 66, its the north side through glen rio... If youd had stopped at ivy roadand looked north youd have seen the old railroad cut but at adrian to the state line the route is actually beneath i-40... But glen rio had the grapes of wrath filmed there ... Wildorado had a scene from MULE...you missed a lot my friend...double homicides...etc Oh btw its pronounced Tucumcari : Two come carry... Theres a local joke One day an indian chiefs fat wife wanted to climb tucumcari mountain.... Knowing his wife couldn't walk it he looked at the two strongest braves and he said... Two, come carry... And thats how it got its name....lol. I wish id had known about you coming through i could have given you a history tour. I worked from the county line to the state line for TxDOT for 20 years maintaining the riad and until my retirement...sign guy...thats hiw i know theirs a sign there... Another that says road ends 7/10 of a mile...its only maintained because of the road materials stored at the end, and the homes.

If there was such a thing as "Route 66 City," it is definitely by a wide margin Albuquerque. It has the longest intact urban stretch and is the only place in the nation where the highway crosses itself. Plus, no matter where you go in the city, it is pretty much in your face, "Route 66 _this,_ Route 66 _that",_ art, businesses, the bus route numbers; they _really_ go all out with it.

Problem with speaking it is that you guys have basically 2 different sounds for each vowel and sometimes even a 3rd. when you combine 2 of them in a word, so have to learn which sound to use properly in each word say in Spanish. Also have a lot of trouble with our double "RRs", so at least couple of drinks before getting loose enough to more or less correctly say "perras", "carros", "guerra", "tierra", etc. Great trip so far!

I remember going back to California and seeing people sleeping on the dirt right of way with their feet really close to the blacktop. And some of those people where literally in the middle of nowhere. Nothing that you could see for miles. And I thought why did they say or do get to dropped off here.?
