Overwatch league did this thing where you get skin currency from watching the OWL and are able to purchase team skins for heroes. Idk how League can do this but it’s an idea
@johnpauljonesisabadass81343 ай бұрын
Make a system where you pick a team in every major league and everytime that team wins, you get a new currency which can be used to buy team skins but here's the plot twist: The more supporters a team has, the fewer the currency is given when they win, this makes supporting dark horse teams worth it.

I agree with Caedrel on performance of LEC Internationally leading to a decrease in viewership. As well as the point of increased amount of splits. I have 2000 hours of games watched tracked in the lolesports website, and I used to watch the main broadcast every weekend in the years 2017-2022. But the last few years of repeated rivalries, declining game quality, and poor International performance has driven me away from watching LEC in general. It sucks, but it's the truth.

I'm not saying that LEC content was bad, but investing in 'funny' segments and random caster music would only further detract from the seriousness of the league. (especially with the current level of gameplay) Look at LCK: real format -> good teams -> good performance -> league taken seriously -> viewership is crazy (also for example the LCK Spring Finals intro was insane, T1 and GEN.G were looking like raid bosses, so sad we can't have that in LEC ...)

Gameplay is not good in LEC. Being honest LEC goal is to have chance to win world. IF it used to have chance at Fanatic glory days. Or the year G2 was against funplus Phoenix. No one belives it most of the time. This year everyone is already betting on TES or GenG, maybe T1 for the legacy and the meaning of a 5th world title, but that's it. LEC has no chance to win, unless on an happy accident. If we want LEC to propose something new, teams have to integrate more young/new blood. French Caster at OTP are good.

I didn't watch LEC or any region teams till I found your broadcasts, and I still don't. Riot just needs to find ways to partner with costreamers, get them to sign TOS that lets them share viewership numbers so that they can get proper numbers on viewership (and still sell add slots).
@TomkoChannel3 ай бұрын
I couldnt disagree more with the sentiment that the lack of LEC caster content is whats driving away viewers. Subjectively it was what drove me away from the LEC last year as half of the overall stream was focussed on the casters. The only reason I watch is for the players and teams. Why does the LCK get such great viewership without all that caster content? Also the average age of league is 23 according to riot, I cant imagine a worse way of introducing my peers of that age to lol esports than a caster rap edit. It sucks, and riot did the right thing cutting any budget that went to that waste of time and money. You say LCS got more love but they made an active effort to cut times between games in half, giving less time to the casters and it turned out great.
@miamigo41303 ай бұрын
Dont all 4 major region already get the same amount of financial support from Riot? If not, then that is actually messed up and biased af. If so, then making Riot increase the budget of one region is not as simple and easy as it sounds due to the fact that they would also have to include the three other major regions.

I think all the major leagues are paid equally by riot but each league also make their own money ig or something. Because you can't run LCS as same budget as LEC. They also earn more from studio tickets ig.(This is just speculation)

@@cottoncandy4896 Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that. I think I heard MarkZ say something similar in a podcast somewhere how every major region was paid by Riot equally. However, NA wasn't profitable enough, which led Riot to reformat LCS into the Americas.

I mean first of all, get rid of the dumb ass triple split - having some breaks in between makes the actual games more hype and teams gets to play with some proper preparations. And i swear a these 'finals' that we are having these splits means jack all. Create proper fucking venues and roadshows for every final and keep it to a double final per year. The old format was miles better, and the only thing i would say is that if you can't have bo3 during regular season before regular bo5 during playoffs - then simply remove shitty teams and make it bo3 for 8 teams and playoffs for 4 teams - with all playoff games being played in venues. That should also increase the ticket revenue per game as you will have less 'barely in it' teams
