I appreciate everyone has diferent opinions and these lists always cause alot of discussions and question marks for players missing. Ill always try my best to give reasoning and be fair to players, i always advocate my best for all players and dislike flowing with the "intangibles" as arguments, i think these lists can be formed in many different ways from current skill level heading into worlds, and if players surpass what theyve shown then i want that to be a focus point of how impressive their story or turn around is, similarly i want players with high expectations to be held accountable for poorer performances than current form and so as much as I can accept counter arguments for things this list just serves as a benchmark for me as to what i expect, and if things mix up and change as the tournament goes on for players in good or bad ways im excited to see that development. Ty all for supporting and watching the content, and whether you agree or disagree or differ in opinion feel free to also come back to this one day and point out how things turned out differently! I dont think im a perfect analyst but ill always try my best to paint a real picture so you have some grasp of where my head is for players leading into these massive tournaments

The way he approaches league as a viewer and "explainer" is great. Really makes league even more fun to watch. Well, they were made with knowledge from summer split and regional playoffs. So placements do make sense. T1 smashing everyone at worlds with their " worlds homeground" buff isn't something you can predict, based on their playoffs.

As a GEN fan, I’d say GEN comms are pretty evenly distributed and-getting a bit off topic here as my main point to make would be about Lehends-something people might not know is how involved Peyz is in calls. I think he’s all-around actually the most vocal in comms, which is exceedingly rare given age hierarchy structures in SK (I think this speaks toward team synergy and communication). wrt Lehends calls, I would say he makes extraordinary calls based on opponent psychology-for example, you might remember LCK Spring finals where Lucian (Peyz) catches out Xin Zhao (Oner) with a blind ult into brush, forcing him to back, which allows GEN to start Baron. Things like that are entirely Lehends calls (it’s a Peyz action, but it was off Lehends’ explicit call; there is proof of this on the GEN KZbin channel’s comms videos). You might also remember in MSI where bot lane (Kalista Blitz) stopped recall and took the risk on waiting for enemy top TP. That too would be a Lehends call (evidenced by GEN YT’s released comms).

He chalks up a lot of deaths saving teammates, but that's saving teammates and very much his duty as a support, although I'd also say that he's a bit greedy in general when it comes to holding Flash. He postures a LOT while warding and sometimes that gets him caught (others it's an opportunity for his team to collapse), but I think it only looks as bad as it does because he has to cover for situations like when comp doesn't have enough frontline, he has to step up as Renata, things like that.

While I find and agree that a large quantity of their most interesting and creative (imo) macro plays are commandeered by Lehends, in this team there isn't a singular designated overall shot caller like, say, KT has (BeryL).

I am glad that Caedrel is mentioning the argument around peyz and his reliability, when comparing him to viper and putting him on fourth. I agree that he had some fundamental positioning issue in the finals, and agree that I would also take viper over Peyz in the world finals. However, I still believe, in my personal opinion, putting him on fourth is quite unfair. If this was last year or after spring split, I would agree with his position in the tier list. Last year, I believe Peyz showed positioning mistakes and rushed some plays in important moments. In spring, while he still played fantastic, I believe most of Gen G's success was due to the topside. I think most people would still think that their success this summer should also be attributed to topside. However, for this summer split, it honestly felt like Gen G's success was mostly achieved through bot lane, peyz and lehends. Peyz looked very consistent, did not rush any plays, and showed comfort on pretty much any champion, including his ziggs. If Gen G won the finals, I would strongly argue that he deserves the #1. But he did screw up the finals, so viper #1 and elk at #2 seems fair. I just think 3 is the absolute lowest I would put him at. I think viper is a great consistent player and he clearly was over peyz in the finals, but in my mind there is no doubt peyz was better than viper in the regular season. I believe his summer regular split performance was almost perfect, and he deserves the #3 spot for that. I know that Caedrel is more professional and knowledgeable in league than I am, and I just wanted put out my point of view, no disrespect to him or light. Enjoying all the world content!

You mentioned T1 (especially Zeus) in draft tends to linger on champions when they should drop them. This I think is a Kkoma thing - it was a problem back in the days as well. Last year with Tom this wasn't a problem - he let them "play" way more and this suits T1 well, when they are allowed to have "fun" with the game

I dunno, I might be biased cause I like Tarzan so much, but I'd rate him even over Wei and 369 over Zeus, 369 has had some sick carry performances on Mordekaiser for example, I get the argumentation for Zeus being a better strong side top, but I think 369 does exactly what his teammates ask him to, and he can also be a very oppressive strong side laner, I think this guy has even potential to be Top 1 honestly, he seems untouchable Also where is my boy Scoot? :(

Dude, the narrative that Zeka gapped Chovy lol... They both had 1 solo kill over the whole series on each other. Chovy did more damage in more games. It was a team gap. If Peyz played well it would have been a GenG win and then everyone would have said "Chovy gapped Zeka". Just be more objective and look at the stats and the game.

if u say game 1 then yes, but game 5 both peyz and chovy choked. before big teamfight zeka is 2/0/2 while chovy 0/0/0 only farming cs then died, late game he and peyz both 0/3 despite have more cs then enemy mid adc

Kill one of Zeka (and the 2 assists). Chovy has no TP in mid. His team dives top (was a call from GenG), which usually works but Delight (and HLE) read that the dive is coming. Zeka has TP. He TPs top. Chovy can't help because he is still roaming. His team dies. Zeka gets a kill. Next kill: Lehends goes warding top. He gets caught by 3 people. Dies. They give the kill to Zeka. 2/0/2. Nothing until this point could have been done better by Chovy. Zeka did nothing special too. The game was thrown by the decisions of his teammates to this point. He is playing Corki. He can't make proactive engage plays (anymore). Ok, now let's go to game 5 (5:59:40 on KZbin). First important teamfight with Chovy in it. Lehends makes a bad engage. Chovy tries to do damage. Literally 4 people use everything on Chovy. Why 4? Because Peyz is a non-factor the whole series (look at the damage game 4). So, the only thing HLE has to do is kill Chovy. There is absolutely nothing he could have done in that situation. But he recognizes what HLE's plan is. So what does Chovy have to do? He needs to buy an Armguard. Just to stay alive. Because they will focus him. 6:06:33. Dragon fight. Doran comes from the side to focus Chovy. Chovy W's away perfectly to avoid Jax stun and the 3 people collapse. The collapse into nothing. He also dodges Ziggs ult, and Canyon ults 3 people. Perfect for GenG. They could win at this point. What does Peyz do? Peyz W's into Yone (stupid decision). Zeka destroys him, forces him to use flash, Peyz fails the flash over the wall, Peanut and Delight see this, immediately flash on Peyz, stun+delete him, and Chovy is left as the sole carry once again. At the end of the game Chovy, with a hourglass (full wasted defensive item), did about the same damage as Peyz. So, even in game 5 there is no gapping. There is just a HLE team that played better than his team. People need to learn to distinguish player performances from team performances. Especially Sally should have those capabilities. Chovy did everything he could under the circumstances. He wasn't on Yone, or Azir, so he couldn't "outplay" or engage.

I get you are ranking players based on the summer split performance, but you can't deny SKT T1 factor on the worlds, especially when the meta has deviated a bit from the AD mids. Faker is a backbone of T1, he was struggling in summer split and T1 was as well. If Faker, with the different mid meta, stands back up on his feet for worlds, T1 will surprise you and your rankings by a lot.

Canyon is the jungler you use in a stressful situation. Game 5 he will smite a minion and land a Nidalee spear or Lee sin Sonic wave and make a huge outplay with split second decisions. He is also creative. Very fun to watch.
