As an American, something is of with the Mens Team its not just Dressel. Everyone on the mens side at least except for a few exceptions has being of their best times. It is disappointing but I do emphasize with the swimmers a lot. I swim myself and I know it sucks when you don't get what you want. And its not even you that you feel like letting down, its those that support you the most (family friends and even fans) which arguably might suck more in a mental sense. Which Dressel the best and hope he can put away his final swims to the best of his ability. P.s The womens US team is actually doing pretty good in all honesty.

One of the things that I've always liked sbout Olympic swimming is the threat of WR being broken. Myrtha Polls seems to have guven way to make this pool ony 2.15' deep in order to accommodate more seating in the venue. Unfortunately, to the consequences of the derth of WR swims IMO.

In all fairness, Kaylee had just swam the 200 backstroke 😊 I think the 50 free just before the 100 fly semis also broke Caeleb up.. Maxime Grousset actually signed off for the 50 free finals to focus on the fly, which is why Josh Liendo swam it. Probably a smart descicion by him. Liendo proved that it is doable, but he sure is jonger and probably fitter as well. Really sad to see Caeleb missing his chance to defend the title 😢. Rooting for Nyls now who swam a Dutch national record in semis! Can he do it again?

Well, this thing about Caeleb is overwhelming... just mental pressure; totally... I guess he have to free himself of this burden and come back to be hungry. He must stay away from socials and media and apply only on training again, as when he was 17. Not so easy to do but the only way to be back on flames. Another observation: the americans have missed sometihng; the males totally missed the Olympics; something definitely wrong about the ultimate tapering and camp after the Trials; a little better the females: so I'm asking: what's the deal?

As an American I hate to say it but yes. I knew Caeleb wasn’t winning a medal in the 50 Free. But everyone was telling me he was winning Gold. However the 100 Fly has completely stunned me. But when we look back at this Olympics we have to see what was going on behind the scenes because this team is very very very off to me. By far tonight has to be the worst night in US Swimming history.

Drama too. I'd place the blame on the media. They (the athletes) are worshipped and idolized too much by media. It creates unnecessary acting and tension and expectations.

@@ultraseven8839 that was another issue I had I have no idea why the Coaches even put him on that relay. However not only has Dressel had a terrible meet but so has Murphy, Heilman and Fallon etc. I don’t want to criticize them as I would never ever be able to swim as fast as them but there is something going on with the US men right now because they have been extremely underwhelming.
@BG-id2cv3 ай бұрын
I have a theory about why the US have not achieved what they should have at these Olympics....Their trials were too, how would you say?....over the top. It looked to me that the hype at that meet, especially for the swimmers, was even greater than the Olympics. Is it possible that the US swimmers had peaked for an over hyped trials? As far as the US swimmers are concerned was it too much for the swimmers to have two enormous events so close to one another? Because lets face it, those US trials were bigger at least for attendance and support than the Olympics themselves. On the other hand, the Australian trials were held at a regular swim complex with a lowish attendance and less hype. Just my thoughts.

@@TheSwimsuitGuythere was an article in scientific American on the pool. I sent the link to Brett too. This time I refer to it as the journal may not be happy about it. It is titled ‘ Is Paris Olympic Swimming pool slow ? Let’s dive into the Math , Scientific American 2 August 2024. we have to do a statistical analysis to figure that one out. PBs could have been dropped even more we do not know. Pan could have gone even faster. We do not know. We can only do “ an observational study” of data. By the time we think of confirmation and do an “experimental study” ( data science jargon ) the subject under investigation has disappeared ( the pool has been dismantled) ! However what matters is the pool used was the same for all participants.
