This was filmed on the 14th December 2024. You could be mistaken in thinking it was back in the summertime. Spitting with rain in the morning, like a summers day in the afternoon. Beautiful

Jeez would need a lie down after going up all them in yer boat. Good drone work mate.

Cheers Grah, I wouldn't even walk up the towpath it looked so bloody steep. That picture at the end shows just how steep that incline is, the drone doesn't show it.

Great to see the drone doing it's stuff again. What a ball ache of five hours that must have been with so many gates to open and close but the shot at the end was tremendous looking up.
@Tojj2924 күн бұрын
You don't realise just how steep they are until you see them from the bottom looking up. My Mrs has trouble shutting our garden gate, so not sure how she'd get on doing them😂

Wow, you are droning again 👍👍👍 This views you can only have with a drone (or helicopter) and look awesome. Must have been a masterpiece of engineering in that time, designing and building that canal with those locks. Can imagine that you need 4-6 hours to pass these locks. If you look at the fenced (devided) parts of the pounds, they seem to have build up a underwater life of their owns. Must be a paradise for birds? Well done and interesting documented! 👍👍👍

@@oldbootsontour First time for a long time with the drone, and great weather too. It's fantastic to see all the locks from the bottom, amazing engineering. Yes, there is lots of algae and weed in those pounds, looks like they need a clean.

Nige you are certainly at the 50K lsubscriber level on editing and picture quality. Renting a canal boat for a couple weeks is on my bucket list. I watch a number of youtube channels with canal boats. Thanks for the vid.

@@flatcapcaferacer Thanks Jerry, such a shame there were no boats going through at the time. My brother has regular canal holidays and my wife keeps commenting that maybe we should try it one day. I bet she'd be knackered after working all those locks for 6 hours 🤣🤣🤣

Great footage. Carol crashed our previous drone into a canal 😢 We have the amazing Foxton Locks near us. They are a staircase lock system. The only problem with these was the incredible amount of water required to keep refilling the system
@Tojj2924 күн бұрын
@@Banditmanuk Incredible when you think how they were built and when. As you say Rich, they need a silly amount of water to keep them filled and working. I believe it's all maintained and manned by volunteers too. Thanks for watching 👍

@@Banditmanuk I remember "drone gate". I think it was sabotage rather than pilot error by Carol 🤣🤣

@Tojj29 Think it was during covid times when all you could do was go walking. It took off and immediately flew into the stone parapet of a bridge spanning the Ashby Canal. We went back with a hook and rope but never could find it. Carol says she never touched the controls!
@Tojj2924 күн бұрын
@Banditmanuk I know you've mentored it before in some of your videos, made me chuckle. It's amazing the amount of devices that do things on their own with no human input. We have lots in our house! 🤣 To be fair, my drone yesterday was having trouble judging where the water was. I flew down into one of the locks and it went stir crazy
