English:
The present house was erected c1590 replacing an earlier house on the site. The owner was Hugh Lewis Owen, attorney and son of Baron Lewis Owen, and his wife Katherine (Pughe) ap Ieuan of Mathafarn. The household was described by Owain Gwynedd (1550-1590) in his cywyddau (strict meter poem in Welsh).
