I won all the missions in this game thank to your videos, Zakh. Then, I decide to replay for several times and try to maximize the luxury palaces on every maps (of course the maps available for LPs). Amazingly, the mission that I won with the most stable LPs built was the dessert maps (Caesarea and Damascus) of 20 luxury palaces per each (and only 06 LPs for Semizegetusa due to its unblessed terrain). For building luxury palaces in Massilia mission, my trick was that I built the LPs one by one gradually. I utilized all the farms set up on the map and the wheat imported. My cart men had to push the wheat cargo from the remote island to the central granaries (with several warehouses set as getting goods), while the poor Phelps nearby only ate fish. My maximum stable luxury palaces were 21. (At first, I squeezed 25 luxury palaces, but they were only stable within 12 months and then soon devolved due to lack of wheat). Great Videos and Great Narration, Zakh!

Sick of housing instability, I gave up playing this amazing game many years ago. The "Gate" and some other hints puts me in the game again. You are doing a good job. Developers of this game have to be grateful to you, no advertising can make better than your videos....

Hey GamerZak! I just wanted to say thank you. I was really struggling with this game until I found your videos and more or less became an expert overnight - thanks to you! You'll be glad to know that on this last map - Massilia - I built and maintained SIXTEEN luxury palaces! Couldn't have done it without you. Thanks!

Most of the tricks I use I discovered by accident or random eureka moments, but people like counting (you'll see in the comments) gave a lot of insight into how the game actually works, like which river to build a dock on based on seeing the floating things lol. Glad you enjoyed the vids and grats on finishing the game!
@Thumper7709 жыл бұрын
Another trick I found was that timber yards need to be placed by a forest but, once it's placed, you can demolish the trees and the timber yard will still work.
@hematogen50g Жыл бұрын
If you make wine having an order to import it will give you two types of wine. For ex. wine is imported by sea and you don`t have a dock or not a single warehouse can accept wine - does not matter people still think they have two types.

the quality of your videos is amazing. I like that you explain the plans for building the city, then skip the boring part, and then show the result. I also like your way of editing and your enthousiastic narratic. I've been looking for Caesar 3 videos on youtube for a while and you've really spoiled me with these. You should be really proud of yourself and keep up the good work. I can't wait for mission 11b.

Tip for the palace-builders: in the ring-design palace block, it is possible to fit 9 stable Luxury Palaces. Shifting the Triumphal Arch to the back of one palace, moving some things around and fiddling a bit with the 2-tile distance to road. Tested in Valentia mission.

man finally finished the game with ideas borrowed from zakh :):) i bought wheat, had wheatfarms, and supplement with fish on every single square possible. sold furniture and some pottery. didnt sell oil, only made and used. only could do 8 palaces, though hit 100 prosperity. so much instability, but zakh's flower design with alot of warehouses/granaries in the middle kept things good

Thank you for all your videos. They really help us a lot, and i´ve learned a lot about some mechanics of the game. Here are some advices to help the people. I just read it in an official caesar 3 guide and I thought it could be useful. I think amphitheaters don´t increase the culture parameter. Just the theaters and all the education buildings. The prosperity can be increased, not only taking into account the housing quality, but other factors like the unemployment (a high unemployment reduces it), the ratio between the money you earn and you spend (not included the money you spend in construction), having or not a hippodrome, the wages (if you pay higher wages than Rome or not and some other. Of course the most important one is the housing quality but the other can reduce your prosperity a lot if you aren´t careful. Again, great work with all the videos GamerZakh :)

12:00 You want to plop down javelineer forts, asap, all 6 of them. They do not require weapons to assemble, like the centurions. Once you have all javelin forts down, you can think about importing weapons to establish 1, maybe 2 cohorts. 20:00 Two markets are not enough for that amount of people, regardless in what position you put them. For starters, you should have put the markets at the end of the roads, together with your culture buildings, that way when market lady goes to buy new stuff, she passes the houses on the way back to market, distributing goods. A good rule of thumb is 1000 people need 1 market. Also, if you plan to build palaces, especially with so little resources, is pointless to evolve your pleb blocks beyond small casa. That way, everything from pottery and up can be saved for the palaces, which don't eat much, or exported. I'm guessing is your first gameplay, a lot of things can be optimized. I'm not an expert player by any stretch of imagination but 1 thing to keep in mind is to try to shorten your supply routes as much as possible. In your case, pottery gets produced in the corner, than pushed around all the way across the map to the warehouses. Same for olive oil and furniture. Don't forget the caravans can actually walk across the map to a designated warehouse, you don't have to get the resources to them, let the donkeys do the walking not your cart pushers. Also for efficient fish gathering, is much better if you use the granary pushers, each granary gets 3, a fishing wharf has only 1. So, you make a granary in the middle of the islands with wharfs, or right up against them, set it to accept. When wharf gets full, pusher delivers the fish to closest granary, goes back and boat gets sent out immediately. If the pusher has to truck around the map looking for a empty granary, well your fishers sit at the dock smoking weed and whatnot instead of catching fish. You build a second set of granaries next to the gatehouse and set them to get food. Try to dedicate the granaries, 1 for 1 type of food, unless you fine tweak your production and delivery: each citizen in a grand insula needs an exact amount of food and goods.

90-100 will need villas and palaces I'm pretty sure. 9x9 is a good block to master, but more complicated designs will bring you much further. Though I have seen 9x9 blocks where each corner has a palace by having an outside road with a different supply chain.

I played it 10 years ago and quit cos of the difficulty... came across these precious videos of gamerzakh and guess what.. finished it in almost a month... wheat thing was an eye opener.. but @GamerZakh, in the farmlands here, I felt you had too many fruit farms. Granaries of wheat are empty and fruits almost full, meaning consumption rates of wheat are higher for romans, maybe you could have substituted some fruit farms with wheat... a comment and appreciation which came 4 years later... lol

The trick is to get a good set of layout designs and to focus on making as much money as possible from the start of a mission. That, and actually discovering all the tricks the game won't tell you about -- natives have infinite trade potential; warehouses set to 'getting' don't need roads connecting them; gatehouses used to control walker pathing; destination walker technique.

Ha! Finally I did it all, and once you give that many hints to us, mere mortals, I was able to win this map with 11 luxury palaces. I tried 12, but one of them I couldn't evolve fully, merely a space thing. From who you got that hint of separating the entertainment, like a theater on one side and an actor's colony on the other? Without that I think it is pretty much impossible to win missions with this kind of requirement levels...congratulations for the playthrough once again!

People don't move in if happiness is low - high unemployment; high taxes; lots of crime; no food in storage. People leave again if happiness is low, but generally because of high unemployment. I can't give you much more advice than what's already in the video lol.

There are even more tricks, such as statues offering the same boost to everything in range (so you don't need those to be excessively close at all, as long as they reach the building you want to be desirable by one tile, it'll get the full boost. Large statues are the best for this. And for defending, There's the infamous javelin+aqueduct trick, using aqueducts as wall and let javelins shoot from behind.

Great videos! I also recently started playing this game again but this time, with all these "tricks", it just makes more sense. I'm currently playing only the war missions but I also check out your peacefull ones for useful tips. About this video: I believe that the easiest way to prevent the market lady from messing your U design would be to cut the middle road in half by aligning the gate vertically. This way everyone would go through except prefectures, engineers, doctors and market ladies...
@GamerZakh11 жыл бұрын
There are 2 types of wine but they are listed as the same. The maximum level of palace requires 2 types of wine, which means you make your own and import, or imports from 2 different places. Yeah it's a weird mechanic but it's in there haha.

It’s an interesting choice to import weapons and train legionaries on this map, since three each of academy-trained mounted and javelin auxiliaries are sufficient to repel every invasion. (I’m not even sure that they need to be trained, but I’m too lazy to find out.)

TrueBluesProductions If you mean building markets at the opposite end of the linear block, it will not work here. Market ladies wouldn't become destination walker that way (need "real" forced walker technique to achieve that). GamerZakh actually did correctly to place markets near the distribution facilities (granaries, warehouses), so they can get constant supply. He just underestimated random walker travel length and didn't quite get their travel pattern.

I think the idea is to not use Legions on Peacefull cities so you dont have to worry about weapons, except for selling them, if you check your videos, most of the time on peacefull cities, the Javelins kill everything and the Legions just do a field trip, so unless you piss off the emperor you are supposed do a Javelins/Mounted and only use Legions on military ones.
