the Ukrainian army has long recognized the interest of this type of artillery and began to develop its own "Caesar" as early as 2018: the Bohdana 2S22 prototype, based on a Ukrainian truck, also equipped with a 155mm NATO canon with a 52 caliber tube (+8 meters long) allowing a similar range. It finalized its optimization campaign in the first months of 2022 and if it is overall a little less efficient than the French Caesar, it made it possible to chase the Russians from Snake Island who had to run for they lives, operation made with the help of a Bayraktar TB2 used for artillery fire adjustment

@@albo8404 So me as a Frenchman, to understand where is my interest in the war in Ukraine, I ask myself a very simple question, if you had to choose between immigrating to the USA or to Russia, my choice is immediately made, it will be the USA, because even if it is an imperfect democracy, it has at least the merit to exist, which is not the case in Russia, where the political opposition, the media of opposition, the journalists, association... are quite simply forbidden by the force, the intimidation... Now if you think that Europe is submissive to the USA, you are mistaken, France was opposed to the war in Iraq under Bush Sons, because it knew thanks to our intelligence services, that Saddam Hussein did not hold weapons of mass destruction as Dick Cheney and Colin Powell had affirmed it in front of the American senate and the assembly of the UNO !!! And our foreign minister Mr. Dominique de Villepin had made a scathing statement at the UN in front of the high American officials.

I'm confident that Ukraine is pleased with whatever weaponry they receive as each type has it's advantages and disadvantages whether it is a CAESAR, Panzerhootn2000, HIMARS, or M777. For example a M777 is much less expensive and can be towed by wheeled or tracked vehicles and multiple M777 (or many more standard 155mm howizters) can be purchased for the price of one mobile howitzer. In reality, too much talk and not enough actually getting the weaponry to Ukraine.
@deepsteep47482 жыл бұрын
I get your point, but do the ukrainiens have to pay for these artillery peaces tho? Otherwise you are right, it is cheaper for the US to send M777, than for France to send Ceasars and M777s can be send in greater numbers/ should be quicker to produce for further deliveries. On the battlefield, i don't think thr M777 has an advantage - less mobile, less range.

@@deepsteep4748 That is actually a misunderstanding of how these systems are used... They are driven right up to the front to fire 30+ km behind the lines and then they run like hell. this is what makes mobile platforms like the Paladin or Caesar so effective. Towed guns you might sit 60-80% of their range behind the front and support the front lines, mobile guns are used to reach out and touch the enemy where they think they are safe many miles behind the front and beyond the range of their own guns.

@@beefy1212 Sorry, i probably didn't communicate very well what i meant. I meant it exactly like you did. Clearly, mobile artillery does "shoot and scoot" to avoid counter battery fire. What i meant with "sits more than 30 km away from the frontline" is, that i don't know, how Russia should have captured some Ceasars, when the russian troops don't make enough ground to even come close to Ceasars theoretic range. I mean, Russia wouldn't even have the chance to capture them, if the Ceasars would only "sit" there 30 km behind the frontline. ;)

@@beefy1212 Do you really think, they would drive closer to the front, than they had to?
