It used to be a key part of their opener. Use Huton to get your buff pre-pull, hide to get the charge back, then use Suiton during the countdown. Now with DT Huton does something completely different and there's no way to get Kunai charges pre-pull.

I'm glad to hear that! 😁 Yeah since dawntrail, hiding in the opener has gone away which probably doesn't help with this detail being a bit obscure!

I was going to chime in with a "I didn't know either", but I looked up *when* the change happened, because I did ditch Ninja for Red Mage as a main job when the later came out... and that's when it happened, XD -- Stormblood's changes on launch gave Hide the Ninjutsu refresh.

doing your research prior to getting into a class makes everyones life easier, in dailies, dungeons,trials you name it. casual content sure, but that doesnt mean people should be a burden and at least not try and know ther class. im blunt, probly. but ye. idiot guides are the first thing I do personally getting into a class that i ''just'' wanna level even if its for fun or achievements.

Another fun fact is that using raiton, katon, or hyoton will restore a shukuchi charge. Can be handy in boss fights and it’s stellar when solo-unsyncing dungeons.

The falling stalagtites in Batsquatch always start off tilted slightly in the direction they'll fall. Because the top is a circle and they're top-lit, this does mean that the base of the stalagtite "pillar" is always on the side of the circular shadow opposite the way it'll fall - or functionally that yes, the shadow extends toward where it'll go. The important bit about this distinction is that it means if you know what you're looking for you can spot where the pillars will fall without looking at the ground, instead spotting the tilt. The floor's easier/more obvious though.

If I end up with a Cure/Physick/Benefic/Diagnosis bot at lvl 76+ and I'm a WAR, I use Nascent Flash on them on cooldown the entire dungeon. A little message to them saying my healing is so much bigger than them that they're probably doing their job wrong.

I ran a roulette the other day with a sprout Summoner who was more focused on spamming Physick on the tank instead of DPSing. I would end up wasting my MP to top the tank off just to try and encourage them to go back to DPSing. I didn't know how to politely tell them to stop without coming off possibly passive aggressive. I probably ended up DPSing more than they did.

I had that moment. We had already a talk with the arcanist with something else (I think it was summoning the pet) and they started healing the tank when he got below 75%, and I really didn't want to pull the party over again just to explain how essential dignity works. (It was the the early mines dungeon so ED was pretty much the only gimmick I had at that level.)

About the turtle and sleep : I don't think anyone should expect anyone to cast sleep on it, as up until this point the game taught that not only is sleep rather useless but sometimes outright bad. It's kinda strange how only now at level 90+ we actually get relevant mechanics in some few dungeons/alliance raids where its a good good idea to use a utility spell instead of just raw damage (like sleeping the turtle or interrupting ArchAngel boss skills in Jeuno). There are some few other instances (like Hermes in the Ktiseos dungeon, the robot mobs in Puppet Bunker or the undead dragon in the Labyrinth of the Ancients) where interrupt is useful, but I think the game should include these non-damge abilities (interrupts, sleep, slow, heavy, bind, etc) much more often in bossfights and dungeons.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh 21 сағат бұрын
Oh absolutely! I wasn't expecting a sleep! That's also why I went off on the explanation on the team possibly taking the hits deliberately, because if the healers spamming heals anyway and all that. Rather than going on a tirade about sleep! I'd say the turtle being sleep able is more a fun fact if we really think about it haha! 😊

Interups have a lot of use that are hard notice I feel. Most barely matter if you fail in interrupting them as well (this is a good thing considering how fast some of the casts are), so a lot of people just don't learn the telegraph that they are able to interupt stuff (which is also not 100% clear especially considering they never taught about if memory serves.)
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh 21 сағат бұрын
@darmorel549 that's correct. Not only was the indicator that something is interruptible not implemented until shadowbringers (technically, before that, "interrupts" were presented as 1 second silences, but were practically the same), but the game has NO tutorial on what an interrupt is as far as I know 😂

When healer and a DPS go down in dungeon boss and I'm tanking, I usually look to the remaining DPS. If they're still fighting, I'm still fighting. If they let themselves drop and the boss isn't low enough for me to feasibly finish off, I'll reset. And yes, I've been the healer that died at the first mechanic/AoE markers and had to lay there thinking about my life choices while everyone else played the video game. More than once. If they want to keep fighting, more power to them.

i had an AST (level 76 i think) the other day in ARF...not DPS, not use their cards at all and only use GCD heals, not even the HoT one. i brought it up and they said something along the lines of 'my damage is low, card buffs are useless and i dont need to use all the other spells to keep you alive' the mentor in the group then said to me 'dont tell them what to do' excuse me? you are a mentor, i am a sprout, you should be guiding those that need it. you are friends with them thats all the more reason to help them since they will listen to you! this AST also had 2 other healers to max level i legit think we as a community need to stop being afraid of not speaking up in duties to help. if everyone is explaining how things work then maybe these troublesome players will realize 'oh, everyone is telling me the same thing, maybe i am wrong?' and if someone gets toxic about it, dont be afraid to just kick them from the group. if we kick players who refuse to accept help then its another way to maybe make them realize they were wrong. am i in the minority for thinking this? probably, but the kick feature is there for reasons not just for AFK people me and the one DPS ended up kicked that AST after the first boss (neither of the bots died so everyone but me died to the explosions, healer not DPSing and mentor only attacking boss), the mentor got upset we kicked their friend then left im not asking for perfect play, im asking for basic understanding of how the job/role works, and if people are refusing that, things need to change around here
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh 21 сағат бұрын
I agree. No one's asking for perfection. But this isn't a single player game, at least TRY your best, and don't get mad if someone offers some friendly advice 😅 And yeah, the mentor should really had gone "actually you might want to use your tools" rather than telling you to leave it. 🤔 Not sure. I think I would've asked if I could give them advice before anything else, but still, them defending the way they play like that does sort of invite a response of correction 😅 Edit: although, admittedly, I'm not exactly willing to kick someone for simply being bad, and determining someone is deliberately failing is sometimes difficult, so I don't know if I would kick unless it is clear they are the problem player 🤔 Furthermore, the fact the mentor asked you to not give advice, only for it to turn out the mentor was friends with that astrologian is incredible. Like, give your friend some advice if you don't want strangers doing it!!

@@CaetsuChaijiCh sorry if i worded it weird. i wont kick players for being bad, i would kick players for being toxic about refusing to learn. if a bad player doesnt respond its just whatever i will deal with it to an extent. but if they get defensive like the AST did, then thats a problem and i will be more willing to kick them from the group. i would rather deal with a bad player than a toxic player

Regarding Mouser, yes she will always leave 1 square free on each n/s side of the inner tiles open. In Savage they're always diagonal too, so as MT facing her from North if my Left is safe then the rest of the team's (facing her from South) Left is also safe even if our dodges are different I can always call Left or Right assuming I paid attention. You can do the same thing in Normal.

The sheer number of times that I've seen one healer and one DPS go down on that first boss of Origenics Is frankly quite interesting to me. I've had to, as either the DPS that lives or the tank, Make the decision whether or not to keep going. One of them was a dark knight with over 30% remaining. Now Entertainingly while leveling up the last my healers I indeed was that poor healer that got absolutely slapped by it. I don't know what it is As I don't think the AOEs are too terribly placed at range...

One thing i wonder about Mentor Roulette are the EX trails: Are there not just Mentor then, because i rarely see anyone queue for a EX? Coz pf makes it way more easy + if there new one in it most likely gonna take hour of progging.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh 8 сағат бұрын
Usually there are sprouts queueing for the earlier extremes (ARR and HW). Often they do this because either they don't know to use pf, or if they are free trial, they can't host their own groups. Sometimes an ex is just one sprout and 7 mentors, but often it's more of a mix. Long story short, as far as I know, mentor roulette will never just put together a group of mentor roulette queueing players and nothing else. They will always be filling groups for something others actually queued for as far as I know 😊

When I see these kinds of videos, I sometimes question how I would react to certain situations. As in would I wipe, keep going, attempt to vote dismiss a problematic player, or leave. I'd obviously play to the best of my abilities and might go out of my way to try and make things work against all odds if I were a mentor (within reason). As of right now, not sure what I'd consider too much to accept in mentor roulette. I guess if I were a paladin and the healer would refuse to heal (which didn't happen in the video, but I encountered one of these last week), I would let us wipe, then vote kick/report instead of using Clemency. Clemency is for emergencies, it doesn't exist to enable glare mages and the like. This happened recently (healer flat out said they cannot heal, but was alive and had MP), I used Clemency and everyone else died in a fight that cannot be solo'd. I sadly didn't remember the name. Should've reported this healer.

Yeah that's an interesting problem. I'll say I'd rather have a healer that refuses to attack than one that refuses to heal any day! I am pretty sure I have yet to meet a healer that refuses to heal. Or at least it has been a long time! I can't remember the menu, but somewhere in the social / party options you can find the names of players you've recently been in duty with. That could help in future!

@@CaetsuChaijiCh Generally, yes, a party with a 0 DPS healer will clear. It takes longer, but it works. So I prefer that as well over a DPS-only healer. Sage somewhat excluded, a DPS-only Sage could work with smart use of Kardia on everyone. A party with a glare mage (or others) depends on the duty, requires everyone to not fail too many mechanics, and possibly forces others to be red/blue healers. Those are a rare breed, thankfully. I tend to hit the screenshot button whenever I see one of those. Makes it much easier to report after the duty. I have the chat window, party list, server name, server time, player name, ...

I assume you mean duty 6, which was brayflox at level 34. However if you find yourself in a duty where you don't have magic aoe (like copper bell mines), I recommend using the aoe spells anyway, and try to get close to cap of mana and maintain that throughout by only using one melee step to spend at a time. That way, this won't be a problem! 😁

Lack of any self healing until Clemency, which is a gcd so you have to stop attacking to use it, and it's bland until magic combo and healing from casting spells. It really feels like the most bare bones "I have buttons that reduce damage and that's it" tank at lower levels.
