The following tools are required: instructions for reference,a Drill, 3/32” drill bit, ⅛” drill bit, Phillip Head bit for drill, pen or pencil, tape measure, level
You have a pair of louvre doors with standard gravity hinges.
The hardware consists of
top brackets- depending on your selection these could be metal or plastic
top pivots,
bottom brackets,
bottom pivots,
phillips countersunk screws, and
Philips round panhead screws.
Additional screws if not attaching directly to wood studs.
We recommend always that you pre-drill all the holes.
Doors are typically installed with the tallest point of the arch meeting in the middle of the opening.
Step 1-Install the top pivot to the top of the door.
Measure 9/16” from the finished back edge of the door and mark location with a line.
Place and center the top pivot at this line and Mark the holes. Remove the hardware and pre-drill the holes with the 1/8” drill bit.Using the pilot holes, attach the top pivot assembly to the top of the door with the Phillips countersunk screws provided.
Step 2- Installing the bottom pivot to the bottom of the door.
Measuring ½” from the finished edge of the doors, mark location with a line. Place and center the bottom pivots at this line and Mark the holes. Remove the hardware and pre-drill the holes with the 1/8” drill bit. Using the pilot holes, attach the bottom pivot with the round panhead screws into the bottom of the door.
Step 3- Flip white nylon ramp on the bottom bracket. Unscrew the white nylon ramp, flip bracket and reattach the white nylon ramp.
Next Determine the location of the doors in the door jamb
Position of the cafe doors to the door jamb can vary according to your own preference. We recommend 18” to 24” from the finished floor to the bottom of the doors. Most hinges can be mounted in the center or edge of the door jamb. The edge mounts facilities the lock open feature.
Step 4-Installing bottom bracket to the door jamb
Measuring from the finished floor, mark the proper location for the bottom bracket onto the door jamb with a line. Using the edge of the door jamb gives more rotation in adjacent space. Place the bottom bracket to the line, ensuring the bracket is level, and mark the holes. Pre-drill the holes with the 3/32” drill bit. Using the pilot holes, attach the bottom jamb bracket to the door jamb using Phillips countersunk screws.
Countersunk Screws included are meant for attaching directly to wood, if you are attaching to drywall or any other surface you may need longer screws to anchor to the framing behind the drywall. The hardware must attach to a solid surface not drywall, please make sure the doors are secured.
Step 5- Installing the top bracket to the door jamb.
Set the door into the bottom bracket.
Mockup the install location of the top bracket by setting the top bracket onto the top pivot.
Measure up ⅜” of an inch, mark location of top bracket with a line.
Place the top of the top bracket to the line, ensuring the bracket is level, and mark the holes. Pre-drill the holes with the 3/32” drill bit. Using the pilot holes, attach the top jamb bracket to the door jamb using round panhead screws. This ⅜” height gap allows the door to rise as the door is opened.
Once the first door is in place you will need to follow steps 1-5 for the additional door, if you are installing double doors.
After both doors are installed test the operation. They will hold open if desired at 125 degrees.
If alignment is not perfect, doors can be adjusted using the screw in the bottom pivot.
