Garbage Truck: Hopper and Side View (Split Body)

This project, video edit, and publishing is one of my favorite projects to complete. Back in April, NorCal Waste Trucks, KennysTrucks, and myself all went out to Mountain View, CA to film some of the Heil 7000 Split Body trucks before they completely disappeared. Little did we know, we would create this video together and make an awesome video.
This video (as well as the one uploaded by NorCal Waste Trucks earlier this week) was shot by myself and him. NorCal Waste Trucks put his GoPro into the hopper area with a magnetic mount and I mounted my GoPro to the side of the truck. I edited both versions of the video and sent over the final copies to NorCal Waste Trucks. Both versions were edited in Adobe Premier Pro.

Great video! That was a lot of fun! These hoppers sure are interesting. Although I see it does a bad job of keeping the streams separate. I hope it is all sorted out good in the MRF.

The Sunnyvale SMART Station does a good job on the primary sort lines to remove stuff that may have been accidentally pushed into the wrong side of the truck.

Very well done. It was fun to watch, and the spit screen is still easy to follow. It's still a shame you guys didn't get to see more cardboard on that route. I would have loved to be able to gauge the rate of hit and miss.

Yeah, cardboard was really light on this route. The holidays would really be a treat on this route (or any for that matter in Mountain View. Get ready for lots of clogged Bridgeport hoppers.

From what I've heard, they aren't even really running that Bridgeport at the moment... That could have changed by now, but I'll for sure try to get some footage around holidays.

Still sucks how they can only recycle plastic bottles, jugs and tubs there in Mountain View, whereas other cities can take any rigid plastic container or items. I've seen so much stuff in the container hopper that could have been recycled. Hopefully the markets will expand soon though. Anyway, great video - love hopper vids. Hopefully you can make another sometime.

@@vigilantwraith6005 According to the internet, they recycle glass & aluminum containers. However only those certain plastic containers I mentioned can be recycled in their curbside system, due to their higher value being able to merit the cost of collection.

Only recycling. One side is papers and cardboard, the other is container and plastics.
