Yup you just need the token in the cookies to be able replicate the session. Easy win. They did that because, as you said, now people do not type passwords that often, so they just grab cookies as change the passwords. That’s is why you should always have a second authentication factor (2FA), to prevent changes without the second AF. Good thing you got everything back as it should 🙂
