Im pretty sure at Minute 5 there is one too many carbons there. you had two in the double bond, then you have four when it should be as if there were three, right?
@B612nian6 жыл бұрын
It must be the "ghost" atom due to the double-bond. The double bond "benefits" both ends of the bond. In the example from 05:00, for the *upper* double bond: A) List of adjacent atoms for the C at the _right-end_ of the double bond: C(C)H B) List of adjacent atoms for the C at the _left-end_ of the double bond: (C)HH In the video, we only reach case (A) and we never get to the point where we need to find out the adjacents for the carbon at the left-end of the double bond, but if we had, we would have accounted for an "extra"/"ghost" carbon. Note also that in (B) we account for the atom at the other end only once otherwise we would be "back-accounting" an already analyzed path. The case of double bonds explained step by step: chemistry.stackexchange.com/questions/29631/which-has-higher-priority-according-to-cahn-ingold-prelog-priority-rules
