Cairncastle Ruins - History

This is a location I have driven past more times than I can remember, without ever looking or thinking about what might have been there. I always thought this was just a rock in the sea where people went to fish.
However I was dead wrong, on this site once stood an Irish tower house. Now everytime I past I can't help but imagine what it must have looked like dominating Ballygally headland.

I was the same, I never knew the history of this place. If the lockdown has taught me one thing, it's to appreciate being outside and to stop and look at these often forgotten places.
