Cairo (and Alexandria) were paradise for the wealthy 1% (mostly Europeans or other foreigners). The majority of Egyptians were in severe poverty and owned almost nothing of the land. In fact the ordinary Egyptians were the poorest nation in the region (like the Syrians/Lebanese and the Palestinians). Feudalism was morbidly pathological in Egypt, which is why people couldn't wait for the change that took place in 1952

كانت أجمل من باريس ولندن مؤكد أن زيادة عدد السكان والثورة والعسكر والفساد هي السبب في تحول القاهرة إلى ( مزبلة ) مع الأسف في كل شيء .. خلاص ما ينفعش اللي اتخرب ما يتصلحش .. والمائة مليون بني آدم حنوديهم فين ؟ حاولت أشوف في الفلم حاجة مش حلوة .. ما فيش كل شيء جميل : أولا : المباني رائعة وتصميمها أوربي من قبل مهندسين رائعين والتنفيذ أروع .. ما فيش لخبطة في الشكل الخارجي كل شيء منظم : يمين زي اليسار ثانيا : الشوارع .. يا لهوي أيه النظافة ديه والأرصفة والشجر المأصأص ثالثا : العسكري ياسلام ع اللبس والحركة .. والعساكر في الطابور تحس إنه عسكري وبطل مدرب صح مش أي كلام . رابعا : السيارات والتكاسي خامسا : هناك يافطات تدل على وعي اجتماعي مثلا في د 2.40 يافطة باسم الجمعية الخيرية الاسلامية .. يا سلام على التكافل .. مش زي دي الوقتي بياكلوا بعضيهم . سادسا : حا أول أيه وألا أيه .. دنا حاعيط والله 😩😩😩😩 أخيرا : تحيا مصر وأنا والله مش مصري .. من جيرانكم .. بيننا وبينكم بحر 😀

يا أخ فارس أنا شايف إنه لا عجب في كونها -حسب ظنك- أفضل من دول أوروبا، فقد كانت مصر وقتها بالفعل مستعمرة انجليزية يحكمها -صوريا - ملك من أسرة ألبانية الأصل، وتسكن الجاليات الأجنبية مناطقها الراقية، أما الغالبية العظمى من الشعب المصري نفسه فكانوا يسكنون الأزقة والحواري ويعملون في الوسيات الخاصة بالباشاوات ويشكون الحفاء، فالحمد لله على نعمة ثورة يوليو.
