I love Rebirth Caith Sith so much, but his death in the OG was actually a lot more depressing because the robot Cait Sith that sacrficed himself gained full sentient at the last moment and asked Everyone to not forget about him.

I get why they changed it, though: first of all, pacing, and second… they actually did forget about him. The first Cait Sith never gets mentioned again after the temple, and the new one replaces him in every way as if nothing ever happened.

I like the change in the temples destruction. In the OG, the temple IS the black materia and Cait Sith has to solve a puzzle in order gain the black materia.

He's NOT back. That's a different Cait Sith with NONE of the memories of the original. It took Reeve YEARS to recover the memories of the original Cait Sith.

@@Wolf_Ghost There's a LOT of extra lore in other pieces of canon content. In this case, his accent changed ENTIRELY, which was a big hint to it. The most "modern" version of Cait Sith(iirc, that was the one from Advent Children) was made with the data Reeve recovered from OUR Cait Sith.

They handled this sacrifice better in this version than the OG. You actually felt bad for Cait, even though it was a robot body, his sacrifice and return actually meant something. As opposed to the Original where it was basically overshadowed, by Cloud.

It’s moogle that gets me here with cait, he always does what cait tells him to do and he was told to go with the others. He stayed with cait and after cait was gone, moogles eyes glaze over like he’s lost all purpose. And even after he gets hit by the falling debris he still reaches one last time to try and save Cait. So amazingly done. And Nanakis urgency when there all leaving “We can’t let his death be in vain” he was thinking of caits sacrifice before his own life.

Does it make up for what he did? Like I get why he did it, but he could’ve avoided the betrayal scenario if he just talked about it with them, maybe throw some ideas around as to how to set up Shinra to get the materia for them then take it from them, idk something to differentiate from the OG.
