Lorsque Sarvabhauma rencontra Sri Caitanya, il lui demanda d'entendre la philosophie du Vedanta. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu a accepté cette proposition, et pendant sept jours Il écouta Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya expliquer le Vedanta-sutra. Cependant, le Seigneur resta très silencieux. En raison de son silence, le Bhattacarya lui demanda si il comprenait la philosophie du Vedanta, et le Seigneur répondit: "Je peux comprendre la philosophie du Vedanta très clairement, mais je ne peux pas comprendre vos explications." S'en suivit une discussion entre le Bhattacarya et Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu concernant l'autorité des Écritures védiques, en particulier les Upanishads et Vedanta-sutra. Le Bhattacarya était un impersonnaliste, mais Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu prouva que la Vérité Absolue est la Personne Suprême. Il prouva que les conceptions des philosophes mayavadis concernant la Vérité Absolue impersonnelle sont incorrectes.
