Caitlin scoring 20 points while having an off game is incredible. Most of her turnovers were her teammates not prepared to receive her passes. Not saying she didn’t make mistakes but also her teammates barely sought her out on the floor to make shots. So many times she was open and the pass never came. I don’t even think I saw her even receive a long pass from a teammate the entire game! They really need to work on a lot of shit. Poor Caitlin looked so uncomfortable out there trying to find her sea legs basically doing everything herself with no one helping her. So much weight on her in all directions smh

Just wondering if you caught the second game. Two teams consisting of players who have played together for a while. Guards knew how to get the ball to certain players, what touch or velocity to put on passes, players seem to read each other minds when hitting cutting players. I say this because the Fever aren't there yet and with time, work they can get there. Fans need to stay calm and watch the development. Also appreciate the talent the Fever will compete against this year.

Good opening game from Clark, but what's even more impressive is how professionally she handles herself amidst all the pressure, and how intelligent and self aware she is in her responses to the media. Reminds me somewhat of the way Lebron James carried himself when he had the whole world on his shoulders as a rookie. I think she is very smart to remain humble, or else her being thrust into this spotlight so young might rub the more established veterans the wrong way. Her humility and selflessness are great leadership qualities, and as long as she maintains this great mindset and work ethic, her, Boston, Mitchell (who also had a solid debut) and the rest of the Fever will only continue to grow and learn to function better as a team.

Yet I would not call her garbage even though her poor defense and turnovers led to more points for CT than she scored. 3 assists and 5/15 from shooting most players with those numbers would have be benched but because so much is invested in Clark doing well, she played all 4 quarters. The Fever played a very good defensive team. The Fever is a young team, Clark was drafted a month ago, the team hasn't been together for more than 3 weeks. I think its just different and will take some time to adjust. The girl can't fart without there being a breaking news story - a little different from Iowa even though she was on the biggest stages in ncaa women's basketball. She also has to have time to gel with her teammates and coach. And she didn't get a ton of time between her last game in college and jumping into preseason. Again, she'll make the adjustment it will just take time. Likely her sophomore season she see more "team" success. Foe now... she needs to just come in, keep playing hard, get a routine and put them old heads on notice.

The most noticeable difference between the two games was the defensive intensity. CC is literally facing playoff level defensive schemes, doubles teams, hard hedges near half court. Her teammates have to punish the defense for doing that. She is literally getting the very best shot of these teams while the other teams are playing against eachother like it is the NBA regular season.

The defense ganged up on her and she did not have the help needed to make it happen. I am more impressed by Caitlin's success thus far after this debut game. Her team mates have to press through to get to the passes thrown to them, that is, unless they expect Caitlin to literally put the ball in their hands. Look at the defensive coverage that Caitlin got compared to anyone else on the court. Hell, the way they smothered her I would have been impressed had she got 10 points and 20 turnovers. The turnovers were just as much the fault of her team mates as it were hers. The defense smothered Caitlin and nobody really came to the ball to help as much as they should have. So I find the game on an alternative site and what do I see but Caitlin Clark being called for fouls when she did not even touch a player, and then Clark being constantly body and hand checked, to the point she can't come up the court in a basketball way, and fouls not being called on the other team. Meanwhile her teammates look like this was the first time they've touched a basketball their entire lives besides the other guard who plays with great energy. Absolutely zero cohesiveness in terms of an offensive plan and zero conditioning, I've seen much better transition and ball rotation in games at the Y.

I went to school with Larry Bird at Springs Valley in French Lick, Indiana. Caitlin reminds me of a female version of Larry in many ways. Caitlin like Larry and their team made it all the way to the NCAA finals, loosing their final college game. in the late 1970's the NBA was in serious trouble financially like the WNBA is and has been for 28 years. Larry was looked down upon by many players of color. Larry was called "The Great White Hope", just as Caitlin is experiencing a lot of jealousy from a large percentage of WNBA players. NBA veterans found out the first season of Larry's rookie season he was a legit player and even though he received the Rookie of the Year Award there were still haters until they played against him a time or two, finally the "Great White Hope" title faded away as Larry proved season after season his ability to shoot, pass, rebound and lift his teammates up. The sad thing with Caitlin is WNBA players should be happy that FINALLY, the WNBA is getting air time, getting recognized but in reality many in the WNBA are jealous and if we are going to be Honest, many of the WNBA players are racist. Caitlin is just like Larry was. Larry didn't want all the garbage, he just wanted to play the game, the game that he and Caitlin love, basketball.

Lisa Bluder prioritized Clark to be their dagger in the team because she has amazing skill, sense, and knows how to shoot, how to read the court, and yes she drew in the crowd. Here they took all her liberties and her chance to help structure her team based on her talents. Don’t see the proof look at Bluder, look at Sides. In fact, switch Sides with Bluder and imagine what would have happened to Clark if she was with Sides in college. We would have never known Clark because of how demoralizing and skill-less of a coach she is. Coaching is not about just yelling at your players and running them to the ground in practice, it’s about identifying each player’s strength and making every play be played as one with each other. Because of how exceptional Clark is, you utilize each teammate to feed and be fed by Clark as congruently as possible. If you have two or three players that just want to do what they want, well….sign up for some middle school basketball, it’s not going to work.

They are working through the kinks. They need to allow Clark to play pg and reduce the dribbling. It was too much dribbling by the guards. Also AB needs to get started early and in her spots from last year. They are trying to find their identity, it’s a knew team. Extend grace! They will grow and learn. In 3 years they will be contenders for sure. I’ve been saying this since she was in college, Clark has a problem with defenders. If you’re not shorter than her, it’s a problem. She never experienced good defenders playing in the Big 10 (the weakest conference) because they were all in the SEC (the toughest conference) and when she went up against those girls, she scored but struggled and had to work really hard for her points. I am still rooting for you Caitlin, I like all the other sensible people knew you were coming into league dropping 40 pts like you did in the Big 10. Which is what Diana was alluding too. Here’s the deal, most great coaches are able to reach their players at not only a deeper level but also get into the psyche of the players to get the best out of them! Whether it was John Wooden, Geno, Pat Summit, or Phil Jackson’s Zen Buddhism with Jordan and the Bulls, there was a purpose and a plain from those coaches and those teams reflected their coach. I get the feeling that Christie Sides does not have the ability to reach her players and seems to not have a plan. Lastly, looking at how in shape the LV Aces are compared to how soft the Fever players are, that also needs to be addressed.

As I watched this game I observed the following: 1. Clark and the rest of the team need to move without the ball. To much standing and watching. 2. Clark needs to get stronger. Weights, plyometrics, and yoga. 3. Clark needs to get stronger and move better on defense. Weights, plyometrics, and yoga. 4. Clark needs to develop a fall away and turn around jumper with in the 12 feet of the basket. 5. The pressure has to be immense on the rookie who was a college force just a month ago. With off court work on her weakness she will get better because she is already good.

S/o to Clark for enduring ok. Let’s have a conversation. This young girl is gonna endure for societies racism. Nobody watched the W because it was a bunch of blk girls winning pretty much lets be honest. Now this girl comes along and now things are happening. There is a backlash to that around that league. The defense she will face will be formidable because what she has to deal with is girls who wanna take out every inch of racism they ever felt on her. She didn’t ask for this. Clark is just a girl who wants to ball. Her road will be one of the toughest again because of societies failures. Should have not taken this long for those girls to get chartered flights. I haven’t been the biggest Clark fan i thought her division in college was weak and she didn’t get a strong enough test. But im starting to see She’s something special and should be respected because of how hard its gonna be yea she has the contract but with that comes every camera around to see the hi’s and the lows’s she’s not gonna have privacy. So much is on her plate and all she wants to do is ball and get other little girls to ball. Im gonna respect and enjoy watching her play. At such a young age she’s taking on so much and i just find that inspirational.

The league would only lose potential revenue from fans who give up on Caitlin but have been making more money and have more attention than ever so they’ll make money even if Caitlin were to bust. But her sponsors like Nike and Gatorade will be losing the tens of millions of dollars invested in her if Caitlin doesn’t figure it out and it’ll probably have an effect on how much money companies are willing to throw at rookies and college players.

It's the first game of the season against the second best defense in the league. No one's performance in the game should speak for their overall ability, including CC and AB. In AB's case, stacking this against all she accomplished in the league so far would be silly. Both players have a target on their back. Teams know what they want to do and a team with as much experience as the Sun will capitalize on every single mistake made. If I'm not mistaken Kelsey's minutes are being limited because she was injured. So, she's just getting back into the swing of things.
