What blew up the sport was Angel Reese making that mocking hand gesture to Caitlin Clark in 2023, and all of controversy surrounding that. It drew in viewers who had never watched women’s basketball. I was reading news about the White House when I heard about it as the story was covered by the White House press corps (there was this controversy and intrigue about whether Angel Reese was going to vis the White House after their win). I never watched the WNBA, so I just recently learned that a season is only 3 months or something. Basically, the players are being paid for practicing their hobby in a loss making league. Any payment is a pretty good payment under these circumstances. If the league growths and starts becoming a net positive product, things will change. If not, stop asking for money that isn’t earned. The stars like CC will make their money with sponsorships, that’s where market value comes into play.

WNBA median pay is on par with NHL median pay, and UFC median pay. You'd think these woman would appreciate that, rather than think they deserve as much as their male counterparts. Especially considering that if you look at it from purely a business perspective, it's failing.

There was a feud between retired Boxer and now promoter Oscar De Lahoya, comparing the pay of professional boxers and UFC fighters. Professional boxers make much more. Oscar told UFC fighters to come join him and get decent pay. That started the feud with UFC.

@@patrickhenry2845 yeah, ufc fighters are definitely getting shafted. There's a group that should be complaining, not wnba players 🤣
@patrickhenry28454 ай бұрын
@brody6634 Dana White, CEO of UFC, didn't appreciate Oscar going on ESPN TV, telling his UFC fighters to leave him, and come to the Boxing world with him and make more money. However, I do believe that UFC is more popular today than semi pro and pro Boxing?

Hate to say it but the Clark hype peaked in the tournament now it's all downhill from here

I would say her hype peaked when she got 20 million from Nike! So either way she won! I hope she plays out her contract and goes oversees to a league that will appreciate the viewership she brings! Jealous current and ex players and certain fans 😉 are mad that she got the bag and is the most famous woman’s player in history! I love it and I hope the broke players and ex players keep the tears flowing! Lmao 😂

Im icky of all the people defending Gregg Doyel like “what did he do wrong?” “It was out of context” “this was blown out of proportion” and “it’s a nothing burger” but If you did any research or knew anything about Gregg, then you’d know he has a lengthy history of being inappropriate.
