Smith went to social media expressing her dissatisfaction on the team with her minutes. Fans eviscerated her for it, calling her selfish and demanding she be traded. With Clark joining the team and putting up the numbers she's been putting up, it's obvious someone from last year's starting lineup is going to be moved to bench warmer status. It appears that someone is Smith. I suspect Swoops latched onto that and generalized the whole thing, trying to make it look like the whole team was in disarray, and that it was CC's fault. Nah. The team is getting a taste of working together and winning. They're in the playoffs and are looking forward to the games. They overall have come together since the Olympic break and have gone on a tear. CC has drawn in new fans on another order of magnitude, and it's positive attention. And most importantly, they're having fun doing it. And Wheeler confirmed the obvious. And if Smith is smart, she'll take her limited minutes and be as productive as possible to keep her options open. Meanwhile Swoops is destroying her own reputation with her attitude.

Michael Jordan had an impressive rookie season in 1984-85, averaging 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists over 82 games. His performance earned him a spot in the All-Star game and the Rookie of the Year award. In contrast, Kobe Bryant averaged 7.6 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game during his rookie season in 1996-97. LeBron James, in his rookie season, averaged 20.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, which also earned him the Rookie of the Year award. Sheryl Swoopes, during her rookie season, averaged 7.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. Caitlin Clark, in her rookie season, posted impressive stats with 19.5 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game. When comparing Sheryl Swoopes and Caitlin Clark, Swoopes only had one season where she averaged more points per game (PPG) than Clark, three seasons with more rebounds per game (RPG), and zero seasons with more assists per game (APG). It appears that Swoopes' recent claims may be an attempt to stay relevant. While I don't believe Caitlin Clark meets the traditional criteria for MVP yet she undoubtedly stands out as the Most Valuable Person to the League.

Great video Jon!! Before the Olympic break, it felt like they weren't passing to Caitlin while she continued to feed them the ball.Sh*t got real after an actual break with friends/teammates, got caught up on some sleep, got to know each of her teammates as they did with her, and holy sh*t, look what happened to the league once Caitlin and her team started playing as a team, not afraid to make passes to anyone, and just a bunch of young women having fun with what they do. I hope they get just a little bit serious during the playoffs because I can't wait to see how the Fever does. Caitlin has been known to pull out one or two rabbits out of a hat when it came to crunch time, look at the video against Mich. State in Iowa as Iowa struggled to get the ball in, with only 5 seconds to spare, and she shot it "from the beak". If you've seen the Tigerhawk in the center of Carver Hawkeye arena, you know that it was more than "from the logo", by a number of feet, and while they struggled to get her the ball, they finally did, and that took care of Michigan State. At the end of the B1G tournament vs. Indiana, Iowa was inbounding with 1.1 on the clock if I remember correctly, and as soon as that ball came to her, she had 2 bodies to get behind and while the refs had to recheck to see if she got the ball off in time, (shot clock issue), they determined that she did get it in and Iowa won. I can't remember if one of those was in '23, or '24, but the videos are on here. Christie Sides needs to look at game film to know what her point guard can do under pressure.

@rap3208 That's not dominant. That's being an impact player. I get it. I put money on the Fever every night and have been following Catlin since her freshman year. But dominant is not a word we should give every good to great athlete. Dominant is what Catlin did her last 2 college seasons. This year is a real good year, where the coach finally utilized her skill set to make her teammates able to play better with her, which caused the team to be more effective in winning games. For Catlin to be dominant, these are the things she would ha e to improve and show. The ability to create her own shot at will, get to her spots at will, orchestrate the offensive with only allowing 3-4 turnover per game. And either become a better on the ball defender or a team defender. She has very low defensive IQ, but that's not too much of a concern if her turnovers and decision making improves.
@rap3208Ай бұрын
@@choosenone20901 Dominant is affecting the whole game. Scoring high is just that...scoring, it is not dominant especially if you lost and keep losing. It is like you are only doing that for your stats. The aim of playing the game is to win, not have the highest score in the game. Any team will be happy having you the highest scores if they beat you. The celtics didn't really think much for years of the Jordan led chicago bulls, because at the end of the game, they knew that they will be the winner. they are happy to have Jordan have the accolades of having the highest score. She can still quality hoop when she gets her minutes, but her veteran presence, as you say, is worth as much or more as her points and assists. I'd like to see Kelsey Mitchell, a near super-star herself and also a Fever veteran, also step up and shoot this false narrative down. But maybe she's protecting her marketability across the league and I also can understand that. Kelsey's big smile and on-court rapport with Caitlin is enough to dispel Swoopes' rumors of lockerroom poison.

All these videos are wondering why Swoopes don't like Caitlin. The answer is simple. She wanted Angel Reese to be that person, and she's not. The reason I know this is because no matter what, she says she can't deny the numbers, and the numbers favor Clark instead of Reese. Also, it's possible she's jealous that Catlin is breaking records. Still, it's just my opinion from what I observe.

Swoop didn't ever hear... If you don't have anything good to say DON'T SAY NOTHING... CC ROOKIE MVP of the year .Swoop did not get any attention back in her day..l didn't know her till Caitlin Clark came and made noise in the basketball world.

Yu should not discount the assist because every assist will result a 2 points to the team! While every rebound will not mean an automatic 2 points for the team. So comparing CC actual impact in scoring is 40 point every game (24 point + 8 assist X 2 = 16 points)

Right Sheryl. A team that has gone from 13-27 in 2023 to 20-19 this season (and if they win tonight will be 21-19) has a locker room in disarray because of Caitlin Clark.
