Hwasa was a teen when the incident of the audition happened. She used to be "chubby", still having a kid face because she was little. It must have been so freaking hard, I'm glad she was able to keep pushing through all that negativity.

Hwasa gave me the courage and strength to love myself. I found Maria first before I even knew about them, and was hooked as soon as I saw them all together. Mamamoo is one of the most influential, positive group of girls I've ever experienced in K-pop. Their message and talent combined makes them one of the TOP groups in my opinion

i've been a kpop fan for years now and throughout those years i've went through and stanned a lot of groups already but they just all went by. without bias and all, bts and mamamoo we're the only ones that REALLY impressed me. these two groups bring new things to the kpop plate. their passion for music, their craft, authenticity, work ethic, their personalities, the flavor of EACH of the members and the messages that they stand for, defying norms and promoting what's right. truly both phenomenal.

There's so much to say about MMM as role models, goofy beagle-dols, beacons of empowerment and positivity, and happy-go-lucky iconoclasts who disregard Korean and kpop standards regarding beauty, fashion, gender roles, sexuality and proper behavior. The main thing that didn't get much mention in Purple Hawke's terrific videos is their creative involvement in all aspects of their career from songwriting, vocal arrangements and choreo to styling and MV concepts. We'll probably hear more about that when PH gets around to making part 3 of this guide to MMM. Each member's intro started with tidbits of their solo songs. They each have a successful solo career on the side and MMM is the only kpop group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group is still active. 2NE1 did it after they disbanded. You really liked Wheein's cover of Baekhyun's Candy. Baekhyun is a member of EXO. Here are a few of the members' many solo projects: Solar - Spit It Out, Solar Emotion - a series of 9 covers with MVs from 2015-18, Adrenaline (OST), Bluebird (OST). Moonbyul - Selfish (w/Red Velvet's Seulgi), Eclipse, Absence, Love and Hate. Dark Side of the Moon EP. Wheein - Easy (w/Sik-K) Goodbye, Watercolor, Anymore, Shine on You (OST), With My Tears (OST). Redd EP. Hwasa - Twit, Maria, LMM (Lost My Mind), Be Calm, Don't (w/Loco & Woogie), Orbit (OST). Maria EP. Fwiw Hwasa's Maria was my favorite album of 2020. Title track Maria was a big hit and was one of the most impactful and important songs of the year but my personal fav is the masterpiece LMM. Both Maria and LMM explore her thoughts and feelings about the hate she receives, expressed in a way that is artistically, intellectually and emotionally complex and nuanced. As you might guess, Mamamoo stands up for themselves but they always have a positive message to convey rather than descending to the mud-slinging level of their haters.

When you mentioned Hobi during Moonbyl's part, I WANTED TO SCREAM AND AGREE. because when I wa sexploring BTS and MAMAMOO (i am an armymoo) years ago, I noticed the same thing about them-- they're very good at melodic rapping, creating their own rap verses, both talented vocalists too, and excles in their dancing. I feel like both of them are very good examples of artists who found their own color/style/individual brand or mark that is unique to them only. ohh i love hobi and byul so much

This is why Mamamoo is my favorite. Not only are they amazing as performers, they are also genuinely nice people. They are the only girl group I stan. And while I'm sure there are many other girl groups with amazing talents and great personality, Mamamoo resonate with me and fit my taste in music. I truly think they are special. 13:28 the other lady was Jessi !! she's a rapper that moved back and forth from Korea to New york ! she grew up in both korea and the US she is a very good rapper who keeps it real and brought american rap to Korea ! she collabed with Hwasa and they both were in a group project 'the refund sisters' where tv host "Yoo jae-suk" decided to bring famous artist in the K-pop industry together to create a girl supergroup ! i recommend watching their music video 'don't touch me' and Hwasa and Jessi are very close since starring in shows together and being in the group! Hwasa and Jessi were called the 'BIBI sisters' as they had the same name in the group. hehe they are so cute and Jessi is also very close with Solar ! stan Mamamoo for being real and for making others feel secure around them !!

I really love Mamamoo. It is the only kpop girl group that has managed to enchant me besides 2NE1. Apart from the talent of the members I love that they are so authentic, they are human who have made mistakes, have accepted it and have learned from them. From the beginning they have strived to improve, everything they have now they have achieved based on their talent and perseverance. And the best thing is that the four are very coherent and different If you don't identify with one of them you can do it with someone else from the same group. Mamamoo is a really admirable group for many reasons but unfortunately they get a lot of hatred from idle or arrogant people who think their reality is the only one that exists... For me, I've always said BTS are the kings in the industry, but Mamamoo are the unquestionable queens. Not to throw shade on any particular groups, but while Mamamoo may not be as popular or have the huge rabid fanbase as other girl groups or have the level of fame and endorsements, but while those other groups sing about being bad asses and queens, they are simply performing what other people wrote, powerless in controlling any portion of their own careers, and doing what the men who own them tell them to do. The women of Mamamoo actually LIVE as queens, they don't have to sing about it. Their music is real, true, meaningful, thoughtful, and what THEY feel, just like BTS' music. And that is why they are pretty much the only female group I respect. I may bop and listen and enjoy other groups' music, but I don't respect them as artists. They are wonderful charismatic performers, Mamamoo are real artists. As others have mentioned, Moonbyul and Jin are friends (let's not immediately push to them being besties - we don't really know how close they are) as they, as well as some other kpop idols born in 1992, have a group chat and they are very friendly with one another. They've mentioned that they speak and text, they've shown each other support in each groups' performances, and there has been some pictures taken by paparazzi that indicate they even meet up and hang out on occasion. But both groups are definitely VERY friendly with one another (I still remember Tae's shocked expression when Hwasa presented her ass on stage - made me fall out of my chair - and then when he kept mimicking her pose while they were goofing off in their dance studio in later clips - lol!), and they are very supportive to one another, as are the members of each fandom. Army + MooMoos, fighting!!! Baekhyun is a member of Exo, another kpop group of the generation ahead of BTS. He has a great deal of solo songs, and is known for being one of the best vocalists in Korea. He is also an actor, and, tbh, I first saw him in the drama, Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and it was difficult for me to take him seriously as a vocalist when I found out later he was a member of Exo. But I do give him his props, he's an amazing singer, and I love UN Village. Exo is another group that is friendly with BTS - they are BTS' sunbaes (upper classmates - when people are in the same industry, the ones with more experience are sunbaes, and the ones with less experience are hoobaes), and they have always shown BTS respect and support (despite the fact that there are some salty, stupid, and immature people within both fandoms that like to cause unnecessary tension and drama).

Mamamoo is the best they will make your life better from now on. You'll probably also love Dreamcatcher that shares their best aspects: small label so they had to make it on sheer talent and presence, chaotic and hilarious off the stage, put their ideas into their music so it's way more interesting than songs about boys, each member is her own individual adventure with her own charms. Their most popular song is probably Deja Vu, but Piri is my personal favorite, Odd Eye most recent. It's easy to love both groups I'm a happy and well-fed Moosomnia.

There was 1 girl group who actually had pole dancing as the main concept of their choreography for a song called “First Love” The group was called After School and they’re an OG, 2nd Gen girl group. They were very popular for their bold and unique concepts, for having female members over the age of 30 (it was a big deal back then), and for having a rotation system that mimics Japanese idol groups (where you age out of the group and the company adds younger, new girls to it)
