I'm a fan of your channel, Catlyn. In case you get it wrong: the claim 'Indonesia is the most beautiful land in the Universe' at the beginning of the video, I guess was added for marketing purposes only. We all believe that every places are equally beautiful. Most people were asking: What are those headpieces she wore? Those headpieces (crowns) she wore called Tiara for females or Mahkota for males. In the past you must wear those kind of headpieces to identify yourself as a royal family member and normally made of gold and silver with diamond installed in the middle of it. Every diamond placed in a Tiara or Mahkota can't be just a normal diamond. It has to be something with a magical power. Meanwhile, headpieces for the usual people are made of clothes. Headpiece is one the most important outfits for almost every ethnic group in Indonesia. Even more important than shirts. In my original tribe and many others, we don't wear shirt for males, We usually wear 3 pieces of sarong (a loose cloth) to cover our waist up to the knee (No shirts on) and of course a headpiece. According to my own tribe (Sasak in Lombok) headpiece isn't just an accessory. It is actually more as a symbol that you appreciate your head and to prove that you are responsible to protect it even from the heat. Headpiece is the very first thing you wear when you were born. Your parent will have it made for you a month before you even born. Nowadays, everyone can wear any kind of royal headpieces during their wedding ceremony and other special occasions. What are they singing? This video showcases 9 traditional folk songs from 9 ethnic groups out of 879 ethnic group existed in Indonesia. The main song is Padamu Negeri - One of our national anthems. As an Indonesian, there is no way you not gonna cry when singing or listening to that song. It is our oaths to the country. What is that traditional musical instrument he's playing? That musical instrument is a traditional Dayak instrument called Sape. You must check out UYAU MORI playing Sape SOLO which will bring you into the world of true relaxations. Who did the speech and what is it about? It was the original proclamation speech done by our first president Soekarno. Are those places real? The buildings and nature scenery were all real but yes, CGI effects applied to make the video looks more cinematic. Those floating buildings are; Rumah Gadang (Sumatera), Rumah Toraja (Toraja), Borobudur Buddhist temple (Jogjakarta), and Pura Ulun Danu (Bali). If I'm not mistaken, the Goddess statue where the singer starts her singing is at Royal Pitamaha, Ubud, Bali. Of course they're not floating in real except Pura Ulun Danu which situated on the lake. What is the Symbol that awaken the dragon? It is called Surya Majapahit or known as Dewata Nawa Sanga - The 9 Gods that protect the universe from 9 different dimension compass wise. What are those creatures? The creatures you see at the end of the video are GARUDA and a Dragon known as Antaboga from the mythology of the ancient Majapahit kingdom . Antaboga is believed to be the guardian of the underearth dimension. That's why you will find it featured in many of our traditional carvings, crafts, and even in our architectural designs. Meanwhile, Garuda is the main symbol of our country (You can't really showcase it for commercial purposes because It's protected by law). Garuda itself is a huge gigantic bird that can only be found in Indonesia. And is believed by the Hindu as the main vehicle of God Vishnu. Where they shot this video? 1. GWK - Garuda Wishnu Kencana in Bali which known as one of the biggest statues in the world. 2. Royal Pita Maha, Ubud 3. Taman Nusa, Bali 4. Ubud Valley 5. Baleurang, Ubud. Let me explain little bit about that video, actually that medley folks song or traditional song in many region in Indonesia like Java, Bali, Sumatera, Papua, Borneo and many more if you notice there are many different language different costume different culture that show about Indonesia diversity but we still one Indonesia 🇮🇩. Then when you hear the speech from our first president Soekarno when declare independence in 1945, after that Indonesia patriotic song, we Indonesian always feels sad when hear that song. The part when a woman is carrying her baby, the way she sings, is called "nembang". It is a Javanese's way to sing. It use pentatonic tones. It's traditional, and we, the Javanese people, call the singer as Sindhén or Pasindhén (Waranggana). The song is actually a traditional lullaby from Central Java named Lelo Ledhung. It's about the hopes, wishes, and prayers a mother has for her children (in the video, the baby is a girl). It's in Javanese language. The last lyric she's singing is "Dadi'a pendhekaré bangsa." which means "Be a warrior for your people." I'm Javanese. My grandmother and my mom used to sing it to me when I was a kid.

Those creatures at the end of the video are called Garuda (our national symbol) and the dragon - a mythology from the ancient Majapahit kingdom, i forgot what it's called but it is believed as the guardian of the underneath dimension, meanwhile Garuda believed to be our guardian from up above. It is a real huge gigantic bird which can only be found in Indonesia and also according to the ancient Hindu script, Garuda is the main vehicle of God Vishnu that's why the Balinese Hindu built the statue Garuda Wisnu Kencana in Bali where this video was shot. A lot of CGI effects applied on this video not only to make it looks more cinematic, but also to avoid getting law penalties. This song tells about the beautiful and charming village atmosphere. Novia Bachmid in this MV uses traditional Kalimantan clothes which are very identical to the headdress / crown from the feathers of the Ruai bird / hornbill which is an endemic species on the island of Borneo or the island of Borneo. The song Paris Barantai in the Alffy Rev MV this time was accompanied by the Hornbill Dance which is also a traditional dance of the Dayak tribe in Kalimantan. 2. The next scene is Alffy Rev playing a traditional musical instrument at the top of the mountain. The traditional musical instrument is the Sape' which is a typical guitar of the Dayak tribe of Kalimantan. The word sape' itself comes from the local language which means "picking with fingers". Sape' can also mean Sampan. This musical instrument is made of selected wood such as meranti, ironwood and other hard woods to make it more durable. In accordance with the mythology, the shape of the sape' also resembles a canoe. Usually, sape' will be carved with Dayak motifs such as fangs or bird heads. This instrument is played by the Dayak community to express feelings, both happy and sad. It is said that in ancient times, cheerful music was played during the day, while serene music was played at night. The beautiful twang of sape' is also used to accompany Dayak dances or traditional ceremonies. .7. The song "Mejangeran/Jangi Janger" comes from the Province of Bali. The meaning of this song is an invitation to dance which is termed Jangeran (janger) in the local language. It is said that this song is to relax and release boredom so that after dancing the body becomes fit. In addition, by dancing, all things that are not good or sadness can be lost. In this MV, Novia Bachmid wears traditional Balinese clothes with a Balinese crown called Gelungan Payas Agung, this bridal crown from Bali has a history. In ancient times, the majestic scroll was a crown that could only be worn by kings in Bali. However, now, the agung gelungan is used as bridal accessories at weddings in Bali and can be used by all people. Novia sings the song "Jangeran" accompanied by dancers who are dancing Janger complete with very unique and ethnic costumes. Jan's Dance Ger is a Balinese dance. 8. The song "Manuk Dadali" is a song originating from West Java. This song tells about the gallant Garuda bird as a symbol of the State of Indonesia. This song uses Sundanese. Novia Bachmid also wears West Javanese traditional clothes, namely the Sundanese kebaya and also a crown called Siger Sunda. Very beautiful and graceful isn't it? 9. The song "My Goat's Son" comes from the East Nusa Tenggara area. The song "My Goat's Son" is interpreted as a happy song. However, according to some, this song means parents are looking for their children. The joy in this song is about the togetherness and friendship of children with their parents. This song is shaped like a question and answer session. This can be seen in the first and second lines, where the first line contains a question sentence, while the second line contains a news sentence that connects like answering the first line. This also happens between the third and fourth sentences and the following stanzas like a rhyme. Novia looks beautiful with a crescent moon headdress typical of the East Nusa Tenggara rote tribe. 10. The song "Lelo Ledung" is a song originating from Central Java. It is the timang timang song of a mother for her child. This song contains the praise of parents to the child and also contains good advice. One of the messages in this song is that a child will become a Nation Warrior or defender and servant of the country. In this MV, a mother is on the terrace of a Joglo house wearing a bun, Javanese kebaya and Javanese batik cloth while cradling her sleeping child in her arms. Joglo house is a Javanese traditional house which is very distinctive with the shape of a pyramid roof and intercropping and is equipped with very beautiful carved ornaments in every corner. 11. The next scene is the reading of the text of the Proclamation which was read by the First President of the State of Indonesia, namely Soekarno. 12. The last song is "For Your Country" which was composed by Kusbini in 1942 and is an obligatory struggle song and was designated as the national anthem of Indonesia in 1960. It's so beautiful to listen to back then when I still heard it on the local radio at night especially when I going to sleep. It is usually sang during the wayang puppet show. Now based in nyc I missed it and my country so much.

Wonderland Indonesia is a great music video which was just released on Tuesday, August 17th 2021 for celebrating the 76th years anniversary of Indonesian's Independence Day. It's basically EDM but covering so many elements of music including traditional Indonesian music, including instrumental from sape guitar representing the Kayaan Dayak, West Borneo/Kalimantan. Alffy Rev always did extra work for his artistic music video, and never leave his Indonesian flag. It is of course impossible to cover all 27 provinces, 1340 tribes, and more than 750 languages in a short music video of some Indonesian folk songs. 11 minutes itself is too long, but worth to watch, and surely I have been watching it several times while singing and dancing for all the folk songs here. I would say my critics are, besides all technical editing and music leaps, I hope it could give longer beats to Sajojo (Papua folksong). I protest for no Madurese folksong here! Lol. And, I would like if Alffy Rev (Awwalur Rizqi Al-firori ibn Saidul Buhori) puts Acehnese and Ambonese song. However, I love the performance Javanese song most (a woman sing lullaby for her baby girl in the 10th performance) for its matriarchal feminist element and how it is put after the folksong of East Timor about "Where is my sweetheart?" Hahaha, "where is he/she, where is he;she, he/she is in (the) new village!" Also, perhaps worth to mention, the featuring singer is Novia Bachmid is a hybrid Minahasa-Arab lady as seen in her surname, while the singer of Javanese song is called "sinden", in this music she is Indah Rokhana. She must be an alumni or student of a Karawitan school (school for Javanese/ Balinese/ Sundanese/ Madurese music and traditional song). 1. Paris Barantai - Dayak, South Kalimantan (about a beautiful woman) 2. Sipatokaan - Minahasa, North Sulawesi (about love to homeland) 3. Sajojo - Papua (about a beautiful woman) 4. Soleram - Malay, Riau (song for a daughter), 5. Kampuang Nan Jauh di Mato - Minangkabau, West Sumatera (my homeland far from my eyesight). 6. Sape guitar. Kayaan, West Kalimantan (Borneo). 7. Janger - Balinese, Bali (infatuation -- feast song of youth) 8. Manuk Dadali - Sundanese, West Java (about garuda bird) 9. Anak Kambing Saya (My kid/goat)- East Nusa Tenggara/Timor (about longing for the sweetheart). 10. Tak Lelo Lelo Ledung - Javanese, Central Java (lullaby) 11. In my personal opinion, Indonesia has a Gothic element in it. So the picture is knowing Indonesia not only from the surface, but must be dug deeper to know the whole thing. That is why there are still many who do not know Indonesia. If you pay attention, Indonesia has a lot of differences, uniqueness, characteristics and oddities. Be it from nature, tourist attractions, food, drinks, culture, customs, clothes, language and others. That's what makes many people so confused about the whole of Indonesia that they don't know.
