Every time I hear “The Climb” it brings back so many memories. I’ve always been a shy person who loves to sing. All of middle school I was in choir and 6th grade I decided to try to overcome my fears and audition for a solo. I got a solo in The Climb (the full second verse) and after that I tried out for even more. (A few songs for Veterans Day concerts through the three years, Grown up Christmas List, some other Christmas song in 7th grade, and 2 solos in The Phantom of the Opera medley. Angel of Music (both the og and reprise with me singing as Christine) and Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again (my fave POTO song). The Climb is what made me accomplish my fears which made me love this song.

I think it’s because lemonade premiered during Disney’s generational transional phase meaning, the time when those who were born in 1997-2002 stopped watching Disney and those born later started watching so it was hard for that movie to find a real audience to connect to it. If it came out earlier I’m sure it would’ve been as big as camp rock or high school musical
