Something's that brought me joy is hiking with my dog. She's about to be 10 years old but still super spunky and loves to explore and sniff EVERYTHING. It brings me so much happiness just watching her be a dog and do dog things. So I'm going to try to take her on more hikes this year while she's still able to handle it!

I like to pick a word for the year and my word this year is enjoyment! The past two years have been rough for many. And I don’t mean to say I will constantly be enjoying things .. because sometimes you have a bad day! but I mean to find joy in the little things and really suck up those happy moments and feelings.

I just read “the high five habit” by Mel Robbins and it has brought upon so many positive changes in my life that felt organic in such a quick amount of time. It’s all about healing your relationship with yourself and going after the things you really want (in a wholesome way, not a hustle culture kind of way!). I feel so much more resilient to the ups and down of life and excited to better myself rather than feeling forced/expected to change. 💖

Those drone shots are absolutely incredible. You live in a gorgeous area. As for something that's brought me joy lately, during the pandemic I got into road cycling. This is actually my second time getting into it. Ten years ago I tried it and it brought me a lot of stress and I hated it. Then my bike got stolen and I didn't do any road cycling for about 10 years. With great trepidation, I decided to buy a road bike again in the spring of 2020 (right before COVID hit, as it happens). I was absolutely loving road cycling this time around throughout 2020, over the winter with indoor training (it's amazing how technology has enabled such compelling indoor training), and then through the first half of 2021. It was something I was really getting into. Then that joy got put on steroids when I met an amazing community of other female cyclists. Once you're out of school and as a fully fledged adult, it can be hard to build new friendships and especially friendships that are part of a common group of people which is different than having a bunch of one off friendships. But I've found an absolutely amazing group of people to connect with through cycling and it's really been such a lovely addition to my life. I think the fact that the sport involves people sharing a common activity for hours at a time -- usually with a coffee stop mid-way through the ride (!) -- and that people tend to do this sport several times a week, means there's way more of an opportunity to build those relationships than in many other activities -- like say a book club that only meets monthly.

I really enjoyed this vlog. t's been so nice seeing your journey from college student to your life now. Congratulations with your home and much peace and happiness to you and Dylan in your upcoming marriage. (I think it's still upcoming.) By the way my daughter and I met you briefly at a vegan festival in the San Fernando Valley. You were so kind and warm to my daughter. She was 12 at the time. I really appreciated that. I feel the same way about New Year's resolutions. This year rather than focus on a specific goal, I decided to set an intention to approach each day and everything I do with joy and attention. The idea is not to beat myself up if I'm not doing that, but if I catch myself drifting to come back and begin again. Namaste.

It was very comforting and looked so yummy. Also, love all the snow. We got snow and my favourite thing is going out into it when everything is quiet like really late at night or super early in the morning when no one else is around. It's the best feeling. This is so random but I feel like I discovered you a long time ago via High Carb Hannah doing some sort of contest?... It's so weird because it's such a vague memory that I can't tell whether it was real or if I actually just imagined it, LOL. I swear I don't take drugs but you'd think with the fact that I can't fully remember that there's something wrong with my brain 🙃

If that adobo seasoning you used on the tofu for your tex-mex sandwich is what you described, no offense, but that is adobo slander. You have got to try authentic Filipino adobo! All you do is brown your tofu, tempeh, or whatever protein you want in a little oil in your pan, remove once browned, and sautee onions, garlic, and (non-traditional) ginger, then pour in two parts soy sauce to one part white vinegar and, as my family likes it, a bay leaf or two and a star anise, then just simmer till cooked through and serve with plenty white rice! That's the way my Filipino family taught me to make adobo and we eat it like all the time. Hope you try it out!
