Actually, their dialect is closer to the 16th century French from New Brunswick, Canada. Would make a great thesis.

Identity is not always about the country in which we're born, it's often more to do with what's born in us. The world would be very boring if we were all the same, good on you for knowing who and what you are. Greetings from Ireland. ☘️

November 2024 French Quarter New Orleans. I am retired here now, with my Hurricane Katrina survivor husband, who I married in NYC in 2008. One of my first projects when I first arrived (I am a textile artist), was restoring a Cajun themed quilt someone had actually thrown in rags in the dumpster. I fished it out and over five months, by hand, restored it. It now hangs in a place of honor on my wall....My dream is to one day - find the descendants of the woman who made it...

I have loved this sound my whole life. First encountered it in an Acadian town in New Brunswick, Canada, as a mere tot. Many years later studied the history of the Acadiennes - Le Grande Derangement (The British fools who thought they were from France? N'est pas!) And of course, one thing led to another, the first "A" was dropped when they reached what was still Louisianna (French territory)the second "a", the short "ah" was flattened to Aye, and we wound up with Cajun. This is the rhythm of the Saints. I could travel through galactic clusters, and never miss a beat.

My family lost the language 100 years ago, very few in the Ozarks now have it. I love this music!

Merci pour cette musique Cela me rappelle de bons moments sur Lafayette et La Nouvelle Orléans, Browbridge chez Randolph!! Thanks for this song, she remind me lots of souvenirs of Lafayette, New Orleans Browbridge, at Randolph's restaurant Be sure of all my sympathy for Cajuns people. I fixed up some boudin and Cajun style rice today. Just had to hear the lovely music that would go so well with my meal and a cold beer! This music is so real, so joyful. Not like that autotune crap I hear in every store or office.
