November 2024 French Quarter New Orleans. I am retired here now, with my Hurricane Katrina survivor husband, who I married in NYC in 2008. One of my first projects when I first arrived (I am a textile artist), was restoring a Cajun themed quilt someone had actually thrown in rags in the dumpster. I fished it out and over five months, by hand, restored it. It now hangs in a place of honor on my wall....My dream is to one day - find the descendants of the woman who made it...

I have loved this sound my whole life. First encountered it in an Acadian town in New Brunswick, Canada, as a mere tot. Many years later studied the history of the Acadiennes - Le Grande Derangement (The British fools who thought they were from France? N'est pas!) And of course, one thing led to another, the first "A" was dropped when they reached what was still Louisianna (French territory)the second "a", the short "ah" was flattened to Aye, and we wound up with Cajun. This is the rhythm of the Saints. I could travel through galactic clusters, and never miss a beat.
