I'm in the process of researching how to start a home-based catering business, and I was just wondering how to get started. I'd like to know how do you decide how/what to charge per job/per item? What resources, as far as cottage laws, business insurance, tax laws, etc, did you use in researching and planning your business? How do you store your inventory in such a small space? Did you start out financing yourself, or did you go to a bank, family, etc, and how much did you invest in start up cost?
