@@zipperl3 But what happened to Anakin was the fault of the Jedi Order. They are flawed, because they teach the Jedi not to form emotional connections with people, so Jedi are like children when it comes to interpersonal relationships. They can't handle the loss of loved ones because no one ever taught them how to. It's all just repressed and not talked about, until someone inevitably breaks. So Cal is much better off in that regard.

@@hungrydragon9402 yeah, Jedi refusal to deal with such aspects was a great mistake, that caused downfall of many prominent characters. Funny how both Sith and Jedi fail because they go to such extremes with either allowing emotions to rule them, or trying fully be in control of them.

Yeah the Jedi once used booth light and dark and were fine and even taught how to stay in control to the young, but then they started to persecute the dark side users and guess what happened after the guys who use strong emotions and will to shape creation were killed on sight... There applications now used for evil/revenge against those who hated or feared them. Remember that it wasn't called dark side yet and the practitioners using it weren't evil.

@@Darkrengi I don't know about you but I believe that killing somebody who _WAS GOING TO SHOOT YOU_ is something that's necessary. And anyway, despite what most people think, the dark side is a gradual process and not something that happens once you kill one guy. You don't kill one guy and go "I guess I am evil now." Which is also why I hate the portrayal of some Inquisitor vs Jedi thing in side-stories, why the hell would a Inquisitor think that corrupting the Jedi they are hunting into the dark side would make him join the empire? What you would be doing is just straight up making another Darth Maul. Dark Side is NOT brainwashing, if the dark side user hates the empire and the sith, he has no reason to join them. What would realistically happen is the empire has another very dangerous enemy out there. In the times of the ancient sith empire and Darth Raven, the reason so many dark Jedi joined him was that Raven was a charismatic person and a great leader, in fact, many of the Jedi in his service were just people who already served him before he became a sith. That was why even Jedi who had not fallen to the dark side(yet) joined the sith in that era, because they actually believed Revan's propaganda. Man, I liked when the dark side was more nuanced than this bullshit of "I killed that dude while I was pissed, I guess I'm evil now and should join the empire."

@slewone4905 Жыл бұрын
If you mean Merrin, I hope his embrace would last more than a second. Here is the thing. There is a conflict on what is the force. It's based on Taoism, but the dark side is not evil in Taoism, but Lucas wants to create a good vs evil dichotomy. But Lucas did not create Star wars on his own, and some want to keep the force truer to the Taoist beginning. This is why the wisest of the Jedis , Qui Gon Jin wants to bring balance to the force. It's the imbalance of the force that is bad. In Jedi preaching, selfishness is bad. Him saving his friends is being selfish. Also Romantic love is bad, or atleast to the point of marriage. Merrin uses dark side force. I believe the makers are on my interpretation. Neither extreme promotes love, but I believe the mixture of compassion and desire creates something better. I hope Ahsoka would explore more on this, since she left the Jedi

A sudden change of perspective, wouldn't suddendly make her not dark sided, nor forget all the strength she already had. Kreia was also crazy. Its awesome how there's whole comment threads still mad about Vader vs Cere. The fight and ending was epic. Plus its totally in character for Vader to mess around and then get serious once he actually feels threatened. In episode 5 Luke had like no skills in dueling and still hit Vader's shoulder ONLY because Vader was fucking around. Vader's response was to immediatly get serious and not only chop off Luke's arm, but to throw shit at him without ever even using his hands like force users typically have to. Vader was once Anakin, an overpowered and at times cocky kid who spent his whole youth being gassed up over his potential. Anakin lost his arm to Count Duku for the same reason before going full borg. He's still human, despite being more machine now than man, and is still subject to human emotions and flaws.

People are talking about how Merrin is bad for Cal (as an emotional attachment) yet the dogmatic view of the Jedi kept them from remembering that they originally HAD emotional attachments with people, which in turn made them stronger…. Kreia taught this to Meetra, who then taught the Order to embrace their attachments.

Long Winded comment: Anyone saying you can’t have a dedicated jedi who somewhat mingles with the dark side obviously forgot Mace Windu. Because his lightsaber color and style came to symbolize that very thing across Star Wars cannon. Yes IRL Sam Jackson just wanted a purple saber but you know what I mean. It spurred an entire section of lore about how his fighting style puts him on the bleeding edge of the light/dark line which is why his (and one of Revans in KOTR) saber is purple, the mix of traditional “light” and “dark” saber colors. That in Windu’s case you can be “on the line” and still be for the “good guys”. Cere herself last game succumbed at multiple points to bouts of struggle with the dark side. It didn’t make her evil, it was something she learned to control. Not only that, but I was hyped to see Cal coming into the “grey jedi” thing. Finding love with Merrin being a big one, and something I hope the story writers really expand on if we get another game. I’m personally a fan. And I hope they do it much like this game. With natural feeling interactions, a good connection and *gasp* healthy qualities in the couple. For once let us have a healthy, “good for each other” Star Wars power couple. An example of the good qualities is when Merrin snapped Cal back with the imperial officer. Cal actually *listens* to her and the people who are good for him when they realize he’s going off course. He winds himself in. But it was also good having those “dips” into the dark but knowing how to come back, and having the real strength to listen to a vibe check. Anger is a healthy emotion to have after your very close friends where just butchered by the actions of a backstabbing, selfish asshole. Again, it’s not wrong that he’s angry, it’s learning how to handle said anger in healthy ways, often times with the help of loved ones. The scenes like the imperial guy about to catch a saber and Merrin talking Cal down show that. It’s something I’m sure a lot of fuckin dudes out there can understand in our real life, just to a less dramatic degree obviously. Anger about something awful isn’t bad. Aggression to protect yourself or loved ones is NOT bad. (Cal breaking Bode’s pummeling to get back in the fight, or Cal breaking the headlock to stop Merrin from choking) It’s when you let it make brash/harmful decisions for you when it becomes bad. Personally I’m in the camp that if anakin was trained by Qui Gon and if the Jedi weren’t so insanely stringent on the “no connections” thing, anakin would have been the ultimate “Grey Jedi” while having a family with Padme. He would have brought “true balance” to the force. Sometimes I like to think the sith v jedi issue is one of fictions best ways to show how to handle emotions as an adult with both main “sides” getting this woefully wrong: It’s not about having little to no emotions or romantic connections with the ones important to you (Jedi) It’s not about letting emotions/personal ambitions control you and your choices to the point you push away or hurt the very ones you wanted to protect (Sith) What it is about is having the emotions and connections in a healthy and controlled way to make yourself a more complete person, and in the world of Star Wars, make yourself truly one with the force (Grey Jedi like Ashoka and I hope, Cal Kestis) A great example of this is how Jolee Bindo describes it in KOTR.

Yeah, it always struck me as ironic that Obi-Wan says "Only a Sith deals in absolutes!" when you consider how rigid and unbending the teachings of the Jedi Order are, lol. What if Cere lived and survived the incident in the archieve, and instead, when Bode is fighting Cal and merin on Tanaloor, Bode killed Merrin, turning Cal to the darkside. Cal then kills Bode in a fit of rage over Merrins' death and is only turned back to the light because of Cere and Greez. Dont get me wrong, Cere's death was executed beautifully, but what if. Then, he shot him again to make sure he was dead. Double Tap: For when you absolutely, positively NEED the target to die.

@@ThreadBareHope1234 My brother in Christ, what? The force is the raw magic energy in lore. The Jedis have a self-imposed cap on power. Their whole thing is about being detached and robotically adhere to rules for "The Greater Good". Dark siders also tend to believe that they have the answer for achieving their version of "The Greater Good." Both believe in a "Better World" but have differing views on the ultimate utilitarian justifications. If you just stop capping your growth in the force and path to possible God-Hood, then you basically by default take the path of the "dark side." According to the Jedi, even having a girlfriend that you love is a step onto the path of darkness. Doesn't really matter much, since once you actually become a Force God, it's all the same to you and the scale of atrocities is miniscule compared to control over entire cosmic events. Falling to the dark side is basically inevitable for anyone not willing to adhere to a solid power cap.
