Couldn't make a deal for branthwaite so instead of having their pants pulled down like in the past they said no and started talking to De Ligt and Yoro instead. They have personal terms with Ugarte agreed already so soon after Yoro and if Zirkzee can live up to his hype, 35m for a striker in this market is great business. Even as rivals you have to hold your hands up and say the new leadership there are already proving their worth. No has beens for £50+M like in the past either. They may well flop, that is always the risk with younger, non-premier league proven players but at least they are actually making moves

The 2 City fans I know have told me that they and a lot of mancs now regret having sold Cole Palmer given the reality that neither De Bruyne or Silva are likely to be an age defying phenomenon like Modric. With this in mind, I would hate to find ourselves in a similar situation with a fully fit Smith-Rowe demonstrating our folly in haste. That we genuinely went in for Sesko proves Arteta's recognition of the need for an out and out center forward beyond the stop gap deployment of Havertz in the role, and I think Gyokeres is the best choice he could make.

I really hope I'm wrong, but imo, a Leopard never changes it's spots. The kroenkes have always only really cared about us getting into the ucl, not us actually winning anything. Now we are back in the ucl, I don't think they will give the funds we need to push on and win major honours. The fact we haven't got the Calafiori deal sealed yet, is one of the reasons I feel this way. 40/45mil isn't a lot in todays market, pay the money if youre serious about going to the next level.

Why are people worrying about incoming transfers already? Both tournaments have messed up the summer window so we, and ALL OTHER CLUBS to be honest, have to be patient and wait for the players to return back from their holidays.
