I recall live show at Allahabad at NCZCC hall in early 90's. .. I was accompanied by one my childhood neighbour who never heard attended any music program but was forced by situation and with me quietly sat on First VVIP row. After VVeenaji's first performance of around 70 minutes he took 5 minutes to come out of the magic of classical music and Veenaji's mesmerizing voice...... That is the depth and height of performance. ......

I pay sincere heartfelt tribute to this wonderful singer who was a purist. Sadly she is not with us anymore. Great loss to us all. Now where can we hear such a pure traditional renditions? This Shankara and other music she performed for us will stay in our heart and memories for ever. God bless her soul.

We were told that her last days were spent in San Francisco, though she passed away in Pune. Her music will reverberate in the hearts of her fans like me for years! 🙏 When she was in CA she trained many American born Indian girls classical music. One small girl of about ten years trained by her gave performance singing a famous song of Shubha Gurtu, which fascinated the audience.
