How it is justified that the first method is more accurate? What about if the hydrostatics table is not given in exam and tpc of salt water is only given
@nauticalacademy00111 ай бұрын
The hydrostatic table was provided onboard by the shipbuilder who designed the ship. The table is generated based on the actual measurements and hydrostatic properties of the particular ship, including information about the underwater volume distribution, and other specific characteristics. So extracting the ship's displacement at a particular mean draft will be more accurate rather than using the formula, considering that the shape of the hull is not a box shape. Calculating the mean TPC by adding the TPC for the initial and final drafts and then dividing it by two, may differ slightly from the actual measurement due to the shape of the hull. The second method is usually used on the examinations since a hydrostatic table is not provided. As long as the TPC for the initial and final drafts are given, you can still calculate the cargo to load using the formula given in the second method. If the answer from the given choices is not available, choose the nearest answer. Thank you for the comment.
