Simpler solution: Radius is perpendicular to tangent at point of contact Hence 52° + x = 90° Implies that, x = 38°

The red line is a tangent to the circle, therefore the contact point to the centre is 90°. X = 90-52=38°. I solved it in less than 15 seconds.

two steps before the calculation. First connecting OA and second COA is isosceles because of the radius.

Simple, as the definition of the tangent, (52 + the angle CAO) = 90. So x=CAO=90-52=38 degrees

I know you were showing a lot of useful Theorems (which I watch and learn from) but since the line is tangent it this means line OA is perpendicular (90 degrees). Therefor once you established x was congruent 2:06 then subtract 52 from 90 for the results and save some steps. I enjoy your videos.

Nice! I was wondering where you were going with the 52° and Alternate Segment Theorem. I went with a line from O to A would be 90° to the tangent line and 90°-52° = 38°.

I drew that OA line, then I got the isosceles triangle OAC. OA is perpendicular to the tangent, so x + 52 = 90... x = 38. Is my reasoning correct? Thanks for these exercises, our brains are appreciative!

You can see that when the lines move on the circle, it creates that symmetry within the angles. Since the circle will limit the distances of the lines, it works that way.

This problem can be also solved by tangent circle theorem. 52+x=90.Hence x=38.Since the given triangle is an isosceles triangle, hence the angle which we have to find out is 38.Angle opposite to congruent side because the congruent sides are the radii of the same circle.

Draw a line segment from O to A . Now segments OA and OC are equal in length because they are radii of the circle . We therefore have that triangle AOC is isosoceles.Therefore , angles OCA and OAC are equal and thus equal to x . We then have x +52 = 90 because OA is a radius and is therefore perpendicular to the tangent point of the circle . We thus have x = 90-52 =38 degrees .

Radius to point of tendency is 90 deg, so 90-52=38 deg, since COA is isosceles, x is 38 deg

Simple way 1. Connect Radius OA 2. Angle OAC will be 90 - 52 = 38 as Radius is Perpendicular to Tangent 3.Triangleb OAC is issoscales because its 2 sides are equal to Radius. So x is 38

This was not a tricky problem. This solution was though. See Tejas' simple way....it takes one step and voila....38 degrees!
