Excellent explanation....Ive always wondered why in some textbooks they put the net ATP gain is 30-32 while if you did the math by yourself you will get 36 OR 34 ( IF you considered there is a 3 ATP gain per one NADH and 2 ATP per one FADH2 ) apparently they use the equation of 2.5 ATP per NADH and 1.5 ATP per FADH2 and that what makes the difference ..

36 or 38 not 34.
@jczarne7 жыл бұрын
Why can't people in this field standardize the values a bit more across textbooks? Each bio book has different numbers and each MCAT book has different numbers. Is it 32 or 38 or 2.5ATP/3 for NADH and 1.5/2 FADH2?

But the C subunit of the ATP Sythase only uses 3 H+ not 4 to power 120 degree rotation that produces 1 ATP, the other H+ is used in the uptake of inorganic phosphate in the Beta Subunit of the F1 of the ATP Synthase to ATP from ADP.

How many ATP produced in the Anaerobic respiration?
@skipthischannel7623 Жыл бұрын
@@neychacky9296 Catabolism of 1 glucose molecule through anaerobic respiration occurs in the absence of oxygen, typically in the cytoplasm of cells. The process involves the following steps: Glycolysis: During glycolysis, glucose is converted into pyruvate, producing 2 ATP. Lactic Acid Fermentation (or Ethanol Fermentation): In the absence of oxygen, pyruvate is converted into lactate (or ethanol) and NAD+ is regenerated, which can be used to continue glycolysis. In total, catabolism of 1 glucose molecule through anaerobic respiration can produce only 2 ATP. This is a much lower yield of ATP compared to aerobic respiration, where glucose can produce 36 ATP.

I've always thought there were 38 ATP for each glucose. Did I miss something?
