Explain 8 G.I. in 1,2,3,4,5,6 hexamethylcyclohexane. Because when I draw I get 9. But you told answer is 8.

In hexamethylcyclohexane, step 1: count all carbon atoms (x=6) step 2: evaluate x/2=6/2=3. So we can have at max 3 carbon atoms on dash. step 3: count all geometric isomers. no dash: 1 isomer 1 dash: 1 isomer 2 dash: 3 isomers (ortho/para/meta) 3 dash: 3 isomers (all neighbouring/ two neighbouring+one separate/all separate) Hence 1+1+3+3=8 isomers in total
