Explanation of how to find the vector equation of a line in space, as well as the parametric and symmetric equations. Examples finding the distance of a point to a line, determining if two lines are parallel, intersecting, or skew. Finding the equation of a plane; finding the equation of a plane given three points that lie in the plane; finding the distance from a point to a plane. #equationsofplanes #calculus3 #mathtvwithprofessorv #youtubemath #mathprofessor #calculus #mathvideos #equationsoflinesin3D #skewlines

Thank you so much for this amazing lecture and all the ones you've shared, for being so organized and kind to post your work. I've not found a better way to be prepared for my classes and understand the dense theory my professor explains in class. I excuse myself if my question is out of the scoop of this video, but one of the chapters of the book we'll be studying is called "Independence of path", do you know which of your videos I could watch to study this material? The textbook "Advanced Engineering Mathematics, by Dennis G. Zill and Warren S. Wright," is right after Line integral, and the closest video I saw after line integral is "The fundamental theorem of line integrals" would this one be the one interchangeable for "Independence of path"?

Yes exactly, the Fundamental Theorem of Line Integrals discusses the topic of Independence of Path. I’m so incredibly happy that you find my videos helpful, and appreciate you taking the time to comment and let me know. I wish you lots of success in your math class and with the rest of your education! 😊

I have a question regarding direction vector and normal vector. If given a point and a direction vector or normal vector, will the parametric equations are the same meaning x=x0+at, y=y0+bt, z=z0+ct using v = or n = ? if they are the same, what are the differences between a direction vector or normal vector other than a direction vector is parallel to a line and normal vector is perpendicular to a plane? Thank you.

No-direction vectors and normal vectors are not the same. If you are given just a point and a normal vector all you can write is the equation of a PLANE. There are infinitely many lines that would satisfy containing a certain point and being perpendicular (or normal) or a given vector-that’s something you probably need to marinate on…it takes time! This is a tricky section to understand thoroughly. ☺️

I took your online pre-calc class in spring 2023. Since then, I've subscribed to your channel and posted your channel at the Discord for all the math classes I enrolled in hope that my classmates have the same opportunity to get help from these videos. Your lectures are way superior than many other professors at the campus as well as online. Thank you for posting them. You rock! @@mathwithprofessorv

Oh my goodness thank you so much!!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 You know, I don’t teach any online precalculus classes, they’re always in-person. So probably you took the class with another professor who used all my videos. But I’m happy you liked them so much and are sharing them with others!!!! That really means so much to me-I appreciate your support and love that you’ve gone so far in math now!!!! Hopefully I can get to 1 million subscribers soon 🙏🏻🙏🏻🥰🫶🏻
