If a=0, I still don't understand how multiplying (b-a/n)=(2-0/n)=(2/n) times the increasing k =1,2,3, ... somehow turns into an addition of a 3. Where does the addition of a '3' fit into the summation formula?

It's an integral. If it didn't have the limit, it would be a right sum if k started at 1 and a left sum if k started at 0.

Typically there is only one question on this, and it is usually in the multiple choice section. It is a bit confusing of a topic, but don't stress yourself out over it if it's one of the few things you're not grasping before the exam.
