Oh my God, reading some of these comments just break my heart. The arrogance, judgement and ignorance is deafening. Those that grew up around Tahoe understand these losses. Those “cabins” that burnt down were MODEST homes with little to no luxuries. Family homes. Are those who live in Tahoe “capitalists” therefore deserving of this somehow or are they crazy leftists “tree huggers” again, somehow deserving of this? How about not judging anybody? Peoples homes and lives have been destroyed. Shame on anyone to show such apathy.
@ashleydohrmann82653 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right. My family's cabin was one of the 13 that survived on Bryant Creek Tract where Craig worked around the clock to save as many as he could. We lost almost 40 cabins, most built by the hands of their great grandparents, very modest cabins with generations of love and memories destroyed in an instant...
@Truthster7723 жыл бұрын
@@ashleydohrmann8265 I live in Reno. My sister recently had a home birth through renting out one of those modest cabins that has recently burnt down. The person that owned that modest cabin was also a very modest person. It’s a shame that such a intended beautiful memory is now blackened by all these fires. Truly sorry for any losses. And that’s the thing having family who have grown up here and other nearby cities in Northern NV and CA. These are generational homes and areas. It’s just so sad.

True, but this nut may have saved his home from burning by staying. Nomex is awesome while working near a fire, but if you get caught in a hot zone without retreat it won't be enough.

Another lesson- the dude who stayed behind saved his house. Many others are gone. I suspect most will never be rebuilt.

It does not look to me like these fires are being fought to save the towns. This looks like state sponsored arson.

@@buttafan4010 on the contrary, the whole focus has been on structure protection. Those firefighters that you have so little respect for are risking their lives. Why don't you qualify as a firefighter and then see if you still hold this opinion. You won't find better people on this earth.

If anything Sierra Club is responsible for the controlled burns that helped control the Dixie and Caldor fires. Controlled burns reduced the fuel load and kept these fires from going totally haywire.

Likely not going to be pine sand firs again. Temperature change will make this scorched landscape without snow unlikely to support the forest complex that was obliterated. Speaking from experience Tubbs, Valley, Clayton, Atlas, Nuns, Glass, LNU.

Instead of buying one more B2 ($2.1 billion), let use that money to fighting these annual fires. I wonder how many UAVs could be bought with that money: they could be used to loiter continuously in summer time over forests and detect the fire while it is still small.
