Question: You wonna MARRY him or get him to work for you? You want a good personality or a good pro? What I mean... Steve Jobs (Apple) is probably in the Top-5 of the WORST PERSONS EVER LIVED!!! If you read about his life, he was the meaning of the word "C*NT"!!! BUT!... He was an AMAZING businesss man!!! Yes, he was SO HORRIBLE PERSON to everybody (his co-partners, employees, EVEN to his BEST FRIENDS - and HIS DAUGHTER!!!!!!)... but in the end, he was successful and the "HEART & SOUL" of Apple company!!! So... What matters if someone has "weird personality", if he can be a great tool to a company? Or, another similar question (about the AGE of someone who's looking for job): Do you want the employees to... run marathons or working on a desk station? I'm not FAVORING this guy, I also believe he's arrogant and foolish - but I'm simply replying to the "personality vs profession".

Then he can continue to live off the money that THEY were smart enough and motivated enough to work for and save. He has ZERO desire to change his situation and is actually insulted when someone dares to question that.

Information System degree that he took 20 years ago is absolutely obsolete. Caleb was right for saying it doesn't matter.
@johnadams673
@johnadams673 Ай бұрын
This is the truth. If he had 20 years of work to follow it then it holds up. But going into an interview and showing the degree then a massive gap in the field is an auto out. The field moves right on past you when you aren't in it. Even the basic concepts from 20 years ago are no longer valid.
@bilson7523
@bilson7523 Ай бұрын
@@johnadams673Eh, not really... Atleast not as a rule. Especially if you were someone that was good with concepts and methodology, a lot of education isn't learning tech: It's learning how to learn and create. Don't get me wrong, we've had major disruptors like AI, phones, and social media, but in terms of concepts, these were all rooted in ideas very present 20 years ago. His problem is likely his attitude. He just comes across like an entitled jerk. I'm guessing he doesn't have the humility to come onto a team as an entry level dev and work his way up, or go back and get some certifications to bolster his education.
@peterpan4038

@@bilson7523 A degree at it's most basic is a form of education, or at the very least a nice piece of paper. In his case the education he recieved actully gets more in his way than help out, and the piece of paper is practically worthless at this point in time as well. He has to find an unconventional job, basically he has to be his own boss... cause nobody above him will put up with his attitude for long.

Absolutely. I'm just finishing my articling year for law, and one of the partners I talked to still has his McDonald's Employee of the Month award in his office from like, 1978, as a reminder of hard work and humility. Many firms now actually actively look for people who have worked for Uber, or UberEats, or a job that may be "beneath" them, because it shows they're willing to hustle and are not bigger than any job they may have been given. I actively tell other students finishing up law school to include that on their resume if they did work fast food or retail in school like I did, because it proves that their ego isn't bigger than their end goal, even though on the face of things it doesn't seem related. People like this "man" are a company's nightmare.

Caleb is right. If the degree isn't relevant to the job you're doing, then nobody cares. If it's not relevant to the job you're doing, you don't even need to tell them you have a degree. They're only going to bully you for being an over-educated elitist snob if that's how you act. If you put your head down and grind, they'll respect your work ethic. This guy spent the whole show talking about how great he is and how great his career was before he threw it down the toilet and zero time saying what he was going to do to turn his life back around. I've worked with actual prisoners in prison who are on a life sentence with no end date who have more grit and determination to make something of themselves than this guy who got a misdemeanour and gave up. I’m usually a quiet watcher learning and trying to do better, but, this was traumatizing to watch. I’m shocked you kept your cool Caleb. That man is so emotionally stunted and stuck living in his past glory days that nothing can get through. And his parents enabling him is just the icing on the cake. And yes, some people are that independent. I’m 27 and an immigrant and I live on my income alone. I don’t always make smart choices, my finances definitely need work and I did have parental support through college; but I am now fully independent. Get a job! And yes, you are a baby!
