He didnt't change key.... He went up an octave in the same key. Even if he did change the 'key' it would be a modulation not a key change. A key change refers to a different part of the song being in a different key rather than the same part of a song being in a different key of chord 2, 3, 5 or 6 in the previous key. :)

The song itself is absolutely breathtaking. Still, I find it hard to enjoy because I just think about the character who sung it. I have to say though, this cover makes that raw emotion from the song much less... bittersweet, per se.

I heard the original song, I thought I loved it. I thought it was my favorite. But now that I hear this.. I like the original. Hi Caleb I recently started learning this song and figuring out my vocal technique to match the original. I have to say that damn its a very powerful song and very difficult for a male. Then I heard your version and its motivated me to work harder on the song. Hats off to you my man, you are awesome!!

alternately it could be someone getting lost in the music on an empty stage with their friend just staring teary-eyed into the empty audience and just experiencing the feeling of singing until "take my hand will you share this with me?" extending their hand out without looking and when their friend takes it they get progressively more animated until "TOWERS OF GOLD ARE STILL TOO LITTLE THESE HANDS COULD HOLD THE WORLD BUT IT'LL NEVER BEEE ENOUUUUGH!" until they're brought back to reality with the final notes and the final quiet "for me"
