I was raised in Calgary and moved here to Edmonton. I find Edmontonians are much nicer. Calgarians always have this weird insecurity and bash every city. I think it may be because Calgary wants to be a Toronto and Vancouver but definitely will never be lol. Plus only Calgarians are always doing the “Edmonton and Calgary” comparison. I often find people in Edmonton don’t even care, they seem more secure about their city. That’s probably one of the biggest differences I’ve felt after moving here. Also, I find Edmontonians seem to travel much more.

Is there a lot of unemployment rate in Calgary and Alberta in general actually??? Cause I've heard a lot of news concern on this issue
@BarbDesautelsCalgaryRealEstate3 жыл бұрын
We do have unemployment but our job sector is coming back to life and we are diversified with tech companies now. Alberta is a great place to call home.
@giovaniernest11003 жыл бұрын
Very high rate of unemployment. Lots of lay offs because Calgary had mostly corporate jobs and those are the first ones to get cut, especially oil and gas. Edmonton appears better because they have all the refiners, so are better protected foe jobs. Plus healthcare and university (University of Alberta) is much stronger than Calgary. Personally, I would be reluctant to move to Alberta right now given massive cuts to healthcare, education, and our economy is predominantly oil and gas. We are not diversified at all. Our conservative government is creating hell on earth for the economy too. So, I’d wait for a bit before coming out here.

We recently moved from Calgary. We find the people are much more easy going here and it’s refreshing not to hear the constant insecurity of Calgarians about how they are not a Toronto or Vancouver and their attempt to hate on Edmonton. Plus, we found that the temperatures in Edmonton are very similar to Calgary. We always thought it would be “way colder” but we haven’t noticed any significant difference

@@giovaniernest1100 In what sense does Calgary want to be like Toronto? I'm currently in Toronto and looking to move to Alberta, so trying to see which city is best for me. I'm also trying to avoid some of the things here in Toronto! Lol. Looking for a conservative area (I hear they are all mostly like that?) nice people, nature, but also some density in terms of population so there are things to do. I hear that Calgary has more issues with homelessness/druggies, is that true? Because I work in healthcare and had enough of certain things. Any other recommendations for me?
