Hi, Dave. We chatted on another video, a little about Florida camping. And you kinda gave me a kick in the butt. Over the past year I've been harboring supplies ordered from amazon to make cold-weather survival kits to send to friends up north for keeping in their cars. They will include foil blanket, ferro rod, striker, cotton balls, and a small knife. But my favorite part is the little alcohol stove I'll include. I've studied many, many designs, and settled on a screw-top 4oz (112ml) cosmetics can. The ingredients are carbon fiber cloth stuffing, a layer of fiberglass, and topped with wire mesh. I watched a guy craft one with a 2oz can and then I just doubled it. And after I watched your 5 yr wood stove review, I pulled out the supplies and started getting my ass in gear. I also saved your playlist as it will be great ambience while I build. You reminded me that it's fun. I'm pushing seventy and I gotta tell ya, second childhood is so much better than the first. Way better toys. Way.

Cold weather gear is quite different from warm climate stuff thats for sure, I see people with the standard bic lighter in their kits on youtube they just dont work here in minus 20 and below and not a chance at minus 30 thats for sure, you can keep them in a coat inside pocket but they cool very quickly, around here a fero rod is priceless in winter and i have many all in different coats etc . heat here in winter is a life skill thats for sure, im glad you like the videos.

I can't believe people still smoke in Canada. A pack is $20.00 no? I quit 10 years back best thing I ever did

Nice to hear that you quit smoking well done. I have no idea how much cigarettes are. what i do know is they are a pain in the rear to pick up , I started counting but stopped at 500 but still found plenty more it is crazy as they get washed into the drains and then into the rivers, and these are the same people that will use a reusable plastic bag to quote save the planet. There was a family downtown the other day and they were picking up cigarette ends they had a huge clear plastic tote 3/4 full of them thousands of them. hats off to them for sure, I estimate i picked up roughly 700 plus today in a 6 km walk.

@@SurvivalSavvvy from what I can tell i just asked a friend of mine they say $20 to $25 is not uncommon but a lot of people buy from the reserves so are wayyyyy cheaper. it also varies huge on where in Canada people live.
