hey Tyler, Nice work guys but i was wondering do you know how to set up half bridge with two strain gauges attached to the specimen.

Hi, Tyler, your work is very helpful. I have a P-3500 strain indicator and several CEA-06-125UN-350 STRAIN GAGES from Micro Measurement. I want to use the full bridge in P-3500. In the bridge, one resistor is the strain gage, and there are other three 350 ohm resistors. Does P-3500 have those three 350 ohm resistors inside itself or I need to buy the resistors to make the full bridge? In your video, you have four wires from the strain gage? But CEA-06-125UN-350 only has two terminals. I feel confused. Thanks for your help!

邓威 Good question! You should have a wiring diagram on the cover of your P-3500 strain gage indicator. The configuration is as follows: Red wire - To one of a gage terminals White and black wire - To the other gage terminals Yellow wire - Jumper wire for a quarter bridge use Now the yellow wire is a jumper wire which enables you to use a quarter, half, or fullbridge. That will be on the wiring diagram on the cover of your P-3500. I think the three wires coming from the strain gage is what's confusing you. Rather than me explain, I'll let the professionals from Micro Measurements describe why to use the three wire system. Tyler i have a question, if a have a strain gage connected to a Wheastone bridge is it possible to measure or to do a graph like weight( in N) vs Mili Voltage( i mean applying the load in the cantilever and getting this voltage from the wheastone bridge), i'm a bit confused cause i don't really understand what the wheastone bridge is actually for, my english is bad so let me know if you don't understand my doubt..

Harold, You could use a wheatstone bridge to obtain the force vs mV graph although there are probably cheaper methods such as a single strain gage applied to the cantilever beam. I would use a single strain gage and then calibrate the gage with multiple known loads. Apply the loads to the cantilever beam, and record the output voltage.

Calibrating strain gages is a function of the data acquisition hardware and software used. Calibration in this video should be valid with hardware provided. I am not perfect and everyone makes mistakes, so please provide more information why it was not properly explained.
