The "odyssey" one of the greatest story written by Greek poet Homer. It is written between 725 - 675 BCE it has 12109 lines divided into 24 books the major themes of this book are the struggle between good and evils, longing ,desires frustrations and victory it is translated into English by AT Murray.The Odyssey is a tale of adventure and romance. odysseus is the king of Ithaca. he is returning home after Trojan War but it took 20 long years to reach home. Penelope is odysses wife and Telemachus is their son . it took 10 years to complete the Trojan War. In Greek Helios is the Sun god. It is said that he had some herds of cattle and sheep Helios told his men not to attack the cattles but some of his men killed the cattle and ate the meat Helios got angry and he punished all the men they all died in a strong storm .He escaped by swimming to ile and. he was a prisoner for 7 years . the fairy wanted to marry him . In Ithaca many men wanted to marry penelope. at last odysseus reached ithaca and killed all the sutiors and then Odysseus lived happily. I HAVE A BROOM Next : I HAVE A BROOM: by Zhai Yongming . Zhai Yongming if a Chinese poet this poem explores the themes of Identity power .The broom is a tool of empowerment self expression and social change. The speaker tells about her traditional gender roles. The broom connect her to her mother .The poem ends with the strong determination to face her fears. she hopes for a brighter future . I have a broom means I have work and I clean today's and yesterday's rubbish and clear away the waste the street and from peoples mind . poet with the blessings of her mother sleeps with the Broom in her hand and clean everything. A CENTURY LATER This is a poem written by Imtiaz Dharker she is a Pakistan writer poet Artist and Film maker .some of a major poems are "Blessing this room " "leaving spaces" The title of this poem have connection with wiifred Owen's poem ,"Anthem for doomed youth". In this poem we can see school going girls compared to soldiers in war front. School Ground is compared to Battleground The school girls are struggling for education they are not getting colourful life and childhood they are fighting for their education and freedom The poem represents the shooting event of Malala Yousafzai in 2012 The girls have to fight for their identity and future . Her major work is "standing female" TEXT is a short 8 line poem .it tells about over usage of Technology and over dependency on electronic media communication and how humans being have lost all their real emotion . we can see the over Reliance on technology and people don't have the real affection human beings have lost the depth of relationship due to the usage of mobile phones and text messages it brings the clear picture of digital age and the communication and relationship of man. REVOLVING DAYS: Revolving days is a poem written by David Malouf. He is an Australian novelist poet and short story writer and this poem reflect affair of a youth .This poem shift from past to present with the memory of a young man who lost his lover. we can see a young man with different colour of shirts. it represents the growth of his love the beginning and its end the mint green colour represents the starting of a love the pink the growing of the love and the Ivy League with darker Stripes show the end of the love . He don't know where his lover is or with whom she is living .But he says that he won't disturb her where ever she is. He lives in their old memories THRESHOLD Threshold is a poem written by Ocean vuong .He is a Vietnamese American poet. The theme of the poem is cultural identity sexuality family relationship .some of his major works are "Night sky with exit wounds" and "on earth we briefly gorgeously" this is the first poem the title of the poem means the sharp aspects of reality the other expose the connection between body and mind. we can see a man singing in the shower a father and his son relationship and growth of a man repetation of I is seen in the poem. The Boy peeps through the key hole while his father was having a shower .This poem shows the pain of migration and settlements. UNCLE PODGER HANGS A PICTURE Uncle thanks a picture as written by Jerome K Jerome. some of his major works are Three Men in a Boat and The second thoughts of an ideal fellow This is taken from the novel Three Men in a Boat. This is a comic story in the life of uncle podger we can see uncle Podger. He is trying to hang a painting on the wall he says that he is the most suitable person for the job we can see uncle sending a maid to buy Nails and a boy to say the size of the nail and then another boy to get a hammer and to get a scale and then jimto get kitchen chair and step ladder and then another one to get a picture cord and trying to place the nail he got hurt by the hammer and the family went in search of his handkerchief place in the coat. uncle was sitting on the coat and they search for a long time and then at last was trying to hit the nail he fell on to the piano .AT last chis wife Maria says that when uncle decides to place a nail next time she will move she will move to her house and enjoy a week with her mother. WAR is a poem written by Luigi pirandello is Italian novelist poet and short story writer he was awarded the Noble prize for Literature .this is a short story written in 1918 .it says the after effects of War and death how war effect people the story happens in a train with a group of people who have lost their near and dear ones due to war .A couple enters the train to send off their son and the mother is really tensed about her son .the story is conversation between the passengers . we can see a father who have two sons had lost his one son and the second one is in the war field .the mother is hearing all the stories of the passengers who have lost their one son and at last a father who have lost his only son says tha parents shouldnot get tensed about that children because they have selected their dream job and they have left their life for the country so we must be proud about our children . the mother accept all these things and she is ready to send of her son to the warfield. THE GREEN LEAVES The Green Leaves is written by Grace ogot . "The Green Leaves," taken from "Land Without Thunder". Three thi eve's were running to save themselves to next village .two of them escaped and one was left in the village .they were cattle thieves and was beaten seriously by The villagers and he was almost dying and villages left him the covered by green Leaves. and they left back home .Nyagar went in search for the money with thief .Thief covered Nyagars body with green leaves and left the village. the next day all the villagers assembled there and Nyagars Wife was serching him. Olielo removed The Green Leaves and was shocked to see Nyagar. the wife was really shocked and this story ends with a traditional song in mourning song to her husband
