Hey Lt. Just a year into a C.O. role and your absolutely right about Officer Sh!t talking on post. It can be some of the most hilarious, twisted verbiage a person could hear, but when it's on point, I come off shift with a gut ache or laughing hysterically to myself on the drive home. The Rec Yard is the place to be for premium Sh!t talk, and some of the hardest core talkers are the Female C.O.'s. Great channel and great content!

I increased my base salary by 40% with mandatory overtime. Many money hungry deputies doubled their salaries on overtime. I regret working the overtime. My family and friends should have been my priority.

When inmate knight was at my facility, some staff would call him by first and last name. My buddy would correct them. That’s inmate knight. He later went to the academy as a sgt. I learned a lot from him on how to be a great officer. He retired a few weeks ago. Great video

Outstanding post Hector! I remember my first day I was so happy with my new boots, shiny belt, my brass chits were shiny AF, and my OG Transcon and Dickies jumpsuits were creased my dude 😂😂😂. Yup, we wore Dickies jumpsuits 😂. Those were bad ass because they had a little loop on the pant leg for your wooden baton. That week we had a riot at SVSP and the fkn honeymoon began to lose its shine HAHAHAHA!

I couldn't comment on the 187 video on the Chino C.O. 🕊🕯🙏 because it was live. But, damn, i remember i hit Chino the year right after that happened. Big riot with Blacks popped in West Yard. Crazy. I remember it was over a year that the C.O. passed but you can feel the tension as soon as we exited the bus. I got housed in Sycamore for 2 weeks, until transferred to the West Yard. So, as he was telling the story, i could picture it. Sad. R.I.P. 🕊🕯🙏

Quick question boss. Served in California State Guard Security forces 4 years. Got out 2021. I just got my CDL A License with all endorsements last week. All except the passenger endorsement. Currently a field supervisor for a security company. If I apply to CDCR, can I go directly into inmate transportation? Or would a I get on a LONG waitlist?

You have to prove yourself first. After a couple of years, you can apply for and interview for a position in inmate transportation.

Best advice is to avoid being a slave to the overtime. I’ve seen too many Cops lose EVERYTHING, even one getting locked up for bringing in contraband, (I’m certain you’ve seen the training video) when it dried up. Ain’t no BMW worth that! I got my written this saturday. Only thing im truleg worried about is due to a couple run ins with the law when i was younger and i will get disqualified (ticket for weed, speeding ticket and misdomeaner that was dropped). Realistically, what are the chances i will get disqualified?

You’ll be fine brother! Just don’t tell them anything that is not documented or on your record. They will ask you to explain yourself about your previous run ins with the law. Tell them you were young and made poor choices, but have grown since then.

Yes it is POST certified, but you cannot lateral to a police or sheriff agency. You'll have to go through their academy.

Hector, is the pay the same across the state, or would someone working at Ironwood get paid less than someone working at San Quentin. Second question, can you live out of state and work for CDCR? Let say I worked at Ironwood, but wanted to live on Arizona side of the border and still keep commute under 50 miles.

I forgot the exact difference, but I used the 457. I put in half of every raise, then like 3/4 of every raise. My problem. was that I "Borrowed" from it a couple times, in essence it is taking out a loan on it, and you do have to pay it BACK.

457 is for law enforcement, corrections, firefighters, etc. You can withdraw some or all of the money when you retire at ANY age. 401k, you can't withdraw until you are about 60 years old without huge tax penalties. If you are going to retire at 45, 50 or 55 years old, a 457 is GREAT. I work corrections in another state, and I contribute to both. I have Roth accounts (no taxes on future withdrawals).

I love the channel owner, but I would never advise anyone to become a CO for CDCR. It is not worth it, I was a CO for 2.5 years…and i felt like my blood pressure rose everytime I started shift. My mental health was degrading and the overall job was boring. The smell of the prison is something you can never forget.. I transitioned out of that and became a federal law enforcement officer…this job is SOOOOO MUCH better for my mental and physics health. I just couldn’t stand baby sitting whiney ass adult babies. Sorry, if you can avoid it, avoid working as a CO.
