​@@austinreid3951 i don't see why someone would put it over chechnya because "it feels like vietnam" And tbf the vietnam war was an undeclared one, lbj just said "military intervention and that's it" not "i'm declaring war at vietnam" under the gulf of Tonkin resolution. Vietnam was almost a win-win because the tet offensive was a costly defeat even for the viet cong and the nva, but public opinion doubted about the us-led intervention handling and the eventual protests led to a big swing towards the anti-war campaign, thus the us had to pull out. There was also no second vietnam war after that, it's just that. Major cities were not bombarded to rubbles (except Hanoi on different occasions), it was the rainforests, railroads, supply chains and villages that were bombarded into death. Meanwhile, on the chechen wars, the first one was not a win-win for russia. Though they managed to capture a majority of chechnya, the ensuing guerrilla warfare and fierce fighting in grozny during the early stages of the war showed how really vulnerable russian army was at the time of the first war. The army consisted of inexperienced draftees, but even the terrible logistics made and the well known known Russian tactic of "throw in troops, quantity over quality" made russian army even less effective in the war. The chechen army was also able to stage terrorist attacks in mainland Russia (unlike the Vietnam war, though, obviously a terrorist attack in the mainland US made BY the viet cong is fucking ridiculous), and grozny was bombarded to rubbles. By the time of the second chechen war, the russians literally won obviously, but came at a cost. Chechens (especially wahhabis) who made terrorist attacks in 1994 made terrorism their own career, thus launching a series of hostage crises, bombings, and any terroristic stuff you know about throughout not only Russia but their own country itself, which resulted in the deaths of thousands even after the main stage for the second war ended (the ensuing guerrilla warfare caused that). Draftees being deployed into the war, terrible russian logistics & tactics still continued throughout the 2nd war , although they were pointless since chechnya fell because of the combined fact that their army was considerably weaker than prior to the first war, rampant corruption, some parts of grozny was still in rubbles, and near-anarchy status outside the capital.

It’s terrifying, the west really needs to step up with helping Ukraine if it intends for Ukraine to win, it doesn’t just need to bring attrition to the Army. True, the western media basically only mocks and underestimates the Russian Army. Never underestimate your enemy, cause you will think that you are invincible, the Wehrmacht thought it was invincible, and yet they got crushed. Not the same scenario of course but history repeats itself more rather than not. But if the west cared about Ukraine they would stop sending weapons and equipment cause that will just prolong the suffering death and destruction. Since russia is basically in war economy mode ATM and almost no other nations are including Ukraine , time plays to their advantage
