I was at Donner Lake today and it is full to the brim. There is still lots of snow in the peaks as well.

Utah is absolutely full of water too. It's been a good spring for us. Great Salt Lake is recovering

I love your channel this is information that should be on MSM but they instead prefer to follow narratives. Thank you for the weekly updates. Let's hope we continue to see good snow/rain fall for water year 2024

No. El nino restocked water supplies but its over and climate change pushing seasonal rain north means we'll always have water issues until we develop large scale desalination to supply the coastal cities.

Where do the releases go when they open the taps? Is there a water protect or infrastructure to send it south? Give Lake Mead a break?
@ericmaclaurin85253 ай бұрын
Lake mead is on the other side of a mountain range. He mentioned that it is stored underground though. However many millions of acre feet.
@sujimtangerines3 ай бұрын
@@ericmaclaurin8525 No, I meant send the extra NorCal water to SoCal so Lake Mead won't have to release so much to SoCal. If all of it goes into the aquifer, that's different.
@georgehaydukeiii63963 ай бұрын
Just because we get one or two decent winters, does not mean the drought is over! It will take years or maybe even decades for aquifers to recharge! can't people see the mistakes this kind of logic makes? until we recharge the water underground, we're not anywhere near recovered. think of the ground as a big sponge, just because it's damp on the outside doesn't mean the inside is full of water like it should be.

California lacks a sustainable source of water local to its urban centers. None of our cities, nor has the state, done anything near enough to capture rainwater. And water waste is significant, in urban and agricultural areas. As has been pointed out, one couple, the owners of Pom and Cuties pomegranate and tangerines, use more water than all of LA and Orange county, combined. Almonds take nearly a gallon of water per almond. That doesn’t even begin to deal with San Francisco’s extravagant waste of Hetch Hetchy water, spraying it on the streets for purely symbolic value, for 21 years, and counting. We need a sustained focus on water conservation, and more effort put into capturing and storing rainwater.

I'm here to admonish you for providing us with useful information about the water supply situation in one of the most important agricultural states. It really irks me how you do all that research and make videos that concisely give us the information we need. And those couple verbal stumbles you made really pissed me off. Don't get me started on the fact that you use your real voice instead of a computer generated voice. I mean really, WTF?

Answer: NO! CACAfornia should not be building any new houses, cities, apartments, etc. until they commit to increasing the amount of water storage. Currently, they are tearing down water storage capabilities.

What are they tearing down? They are actually building another dam; one of the first in decades I believe.

The water drought is never over in California. After 2 to 3 years of heavy El Nino precipitation, it has in the past been followed by 5, 7 ,and 8 years of drought. Meanwhile, the Sacra-tomato River continues running to the San Francisco Bay.
@RobertCHoweSrАй бұрын
Gotta start injecting reappearing water from the so-called return of ancient lake waters to severely depleted underground reservoirs. Add more of the Sacremento Dellta's resouce to the California Aquaduct Systems.

One year from now we will be back in an emergency drought , it's my understanding that more water is being released then saved?
@ericmaclaurin85253 ай бұрын
You said the early snow melt was released into the ocean and then said it was diverted to underground storage...?
@brentfrank70123 ай бұрын
No it’s not, most of our fresh rain water goes in the ocean. It’s not over, it’s prime to start over again immediately.
