California Kern River Oil Field

Chevron manages the old Kern River Oil field found early in Bakersfield history in the 1920s. Pumpers are spaced to less than an acre between well bores. Vaughn Thompson takes us on a driving tour including outcrops of the Miocene Kern River sands

Spent many a hot day and cold night in this patch. From section 33 to Omar hill to hiway 65. Back in the day it was Getty oil. 1983 ish oil prices dropped and alot of rigs went down. Those were good times.
