i dont understand the problem or the science behind it or know how much sense proposed solutions make. im sure there are situations where it doesnt matter if invasive species are grown, like in a pot on your property where it will never spread anywhere

Ecosystems are very delicate and introducing new species threatens all of it. Plants, pollinators, animals etc can be affected by just one new species being introduced. It can also be even worse than just the flower not being right for local pollinators, eucalyptus for example has oil that spreads in the soil and makes it so other plants can’t grow, it also burns like gasoline which makes wildfires worse.

A lot of invasive plants that have spread widely like crazy have started as pet plants. To answer your question.

Bottom line these don’t do anything for local pollinators and wildlife and instead take resources from the plants that do help the ecosystem, and end up growing rapidly.

​@@valiant_to_vile makes sense. in terms of actionability, i may tell others and also manicure my property (to benefit my pocketbook and make my dream garden by careful native plant selection), maybe do more if i have time (like community level)

@@joelschmierer3544 that’s good!! Grass lawns waste so much water and aren’t as pretty as flowers. Any property you manage or any property manager you know please inform them! You’ll be doing a very good deed even just raising awareness is important. For those of us without property or maybe HOA lawn rules, we just carry around a spice jar shaker with some native seeds and spread them where we go haha look up guerilla gardening.
