This whole area of LA is completely liberal government mindset- has been for decades. Pacific Palisades is full of Hollywood types. Executives, writers, actors, studio workers- it’s 90% hard core liberals- This is exactly what they don’t plan for- Most have 2nd and 3rd homes in even nicer areas. It's not only rich people and celebrities living there. This report paints an incorrect picture. Many of the 24.000 people living in Pacific Palisades have been building their lives there for generations before the celebrities bought themselves in. Many middle class families who were living there for centuries. Sure, the value of most properties went up enormously in the last decades because of rich people buying themselves in, but that does not mean that everyone was super rich. Up the canyons are also rather regular homes destroyed or threatened. Also in other parts of LA and SoCal. It's terrible and my heart goes out to everyone who loses their home, their memories and all their personal belongings, be it from fire, water or hurricanes. But this fire catastrophe this week is at a scale that it would get this much exposure anywhere.

Southern California here: We live with earthquakes and annual wildfires. Much is made of wealthy Pacific Palisades, and there are many more city neighborhoods on fire right now. I love how the interviewed man talked about the homes being worth $30 to $40 million dollars, and not about the fact that the residents CHOSE to buy in a area that has only one or two ways out. What the governor needs to be asked is how many new reservoirs were built, or repaired/upgraded, and (more importantly) stocked/filled with water.

Why is there no water in the fire hydrants?
@steveurbach309315 сағат бұрын
The fire fighters are pumping them dry. Mains never were intended for hundreds of fire pumpers . SF Put local cisterns in the middle of intersections after the 1909 quake. A pumper could drop a hose . Here there are pools, but no way to get a suction hose there.

Wooden fences will absorb moisture from the ground or potentially the rain, the coast is very wet place to live, whereas the wooden structures are pure tinder, they are covered by moisture barriers, sitting there completely dry for decades. Trees also are filled with water in every cell as living things. I mean, I think if a fire is moving fast enough, it might pass with minimal damage something like a tree. If it burns long enough, of course the trees and fences will burn too. I watched a forest fire coming DOWN a mountain towards our neighborhood until the firefighters got it put out, and it was fast even coming down, and scary. That was in Washington state.

Wow. Insane. My little sister lives in Playa Vista. She’s safe for now but just.. wow. This is nuts. She’s only lived there for a year. It’s interesting because my dads house burned down 13 years ago. The house right beside mine burned down in the middle of the night 20 feet from my bed last November. Now an entire city is burning like 15 minutes from my sister? This has GOT to be the last fire my family experiences right? All 3 (so far) we’ve been protected, but it’s still traumatizing.

Los Angeles have endured so much these past days. We have never experienced such an horrific fire and wind storm in history. We feel so abandoned by Newscum and Bass who has cut off water resource. Fire hydrant lacked water to reduce fire in Pasadena which is home to Rose Parade & Newscum & bass also defunded many firefighters. Many family who lost their homes are devastated and they lost everything including memories in their home.
